The jail sentence is necessary 1) because the message has to be sent that the court has the authority. You don't disobey orders from the court, and there has to be a punishment if you do

and 2) Lindsay needs to get the message that she is ruining her life, something she has clearly not gotten yet. Sitting in jail with a bunch of degenerates, cut off from her celeb lifestyle, may wake her up and make her think about the bad decisions she has made.

Her main job is to be a screw-up, so TMZ and others can video tape it and be "shocked" by it, and then we can all feel SO superior.

I feel bad for anyone who goes to jail, unless they hurt someone else.

I remember a SNL solo she did some years ago where they all laughed (she included) that she was going to end up a washed up has been drunk. Sadly it seems she is heading that way :(:(:(:(

Todays news sees Lindsay's lawyer resigning. Lindsay was ranting on about human rights on her Twitter earlier.

What appears to be shocking to me, Lindsay is really good at taking down notes! Photos of her courtroom notes were released, her handwriting is pretty good and she takes down notes REALLY professionally! I'm dead serious.

Have a look here (having a hard time posting the pic). Her handwriting is NICE!

But if you look at the HQ close ups, she took pretty good notes ... all relevant information. I like her handwriting too. I just wasn't expecting someone like HER to be so good at this.

A friend of mine was sentenced to alcoholics classes after a second DUI. We were supportive of that, hoping it'd help get his life back on track. But he stopped going, because he enjoyed being drunk more than the classes, and more than our support. So now he's off to jail.

I feel sorry for him just because apparently he'll only stay away from alcohol if there are prison bars between them.

I do feel he's getting what he deserves. And hope he'll come through this a sadder but wiser man.

And I don't think I'm less a friend for this.

I wonder if some people bemoan the death of the untouchable "celebrity". Someone who doesn't have to work much (or at all), but gets cameras flashing and people murmuring everywhere they go. Who can disregard not only the laws of the land but the laws of nature, too. Where you can eat two-triple cheeseburgers for dinner each day, or subsist on champagne, Tic Tacs and heroin, but still look even more attractive than you did yesterday. I know some people (many of them gay men) who couldn't picture a more ideal life.

Celebrities are not untouchable, and DO have to work for their living. The celebrities who think they can get away with anything just because they're famous seems to get a harsh wake-up call. Lindsay Lohan got fired from a leading role in a movie due to her antics, and Paris Hilton got sued for failing to promote Repo! The Genetic Opera as the studio saw fit. Montel Williams and Connie Chung both had extremely successful, long-running careers in television. One day, they decided it would be a good idea to express their controversial political opinions, and they were fired immediately.

Well, that's all a fantasy. My biggest pet peeve in the world is when people think any of that BS is "real", let alone when they feel inadequate because of it.

It's a bought-and-paid piece of make believe. PLEASE learn this, majority of people. . .for you own health.

Original sentence was 90 days in prison and probation after that, but new reports are saying that she prison she's going to will only be able to keep her in there for 23 days due to overcrowding. I imagine she'd serve the rest of her sentence on house arrest.



I hope this is a wake up call to her, but I doubt it.

I've spoken to, or heard of, way too many people who've been to jail or were on probation. Trust me: it does NOT make them stop if they're the type of person to do it in the first place. Some play up the perfect behavior for a few weeks or months after they get caught, but they fall right back into it again. . .especially if they're all around the same friends who were enabling them in the first place.

You and I know that, but I think there are people out there who hope/believe it can be a reality. And so when an "untouchable" celebrity actually does gain weight, or has to do something more than have their assistant go do their community service for them...well, the dream dies some more. And I'm wondering if THAT's what some people are bemoaning - not that Lindsey-the-human-being has to go to jail, but that famous-celebrity proves to not be untouchable after all.

Her wallet IS drained. She's been getting by on borrowed money.
Her lawyer was a public defender. Do you know how broke you have to be to get a PUBLIC DEFENDER?....... :eek:
Whether or not she gets the treatment she NEEDS.......I don't think she will make it stick.
I'm HOPING it will do the trick but I wouldn't bet a plug nickle on it........ :(

Lindsay is already called by 2 credit card companies claiming she owes them $600,000 each which they don't see her paying back anytime in the future, and unless she can come up with a plan to properly pay them, they will go ahead with legal proceedings.

She was also sued by a store for $17,000 in unpaid bills.
