List of Ridiculous Things From The Bible Christians Choose To Ignore...

Re: Dear Awesome,

There are many Christians who take stuff from the old testament to support their viewpoints.

Yap. Its called selective quoting favorable items (and 'forget' the unfavorable quotes). An invalid way of argueing.

One of the many ways how to win the debate with reli-fundi christians. Just make the long list as initiated by OP and start with the debate. Be prepared that it will be a tough debate. Be prepared that many reli-fundi christians don't want to debate with atheïsts / non-believers.

The typical person of faith I meet in red neck land doesn't know the difference between the old testament and the new testament. What they know if you try and say Leviticus is old testament doesn't matter that's what God says. They don't even have a clue what the old or new testament is.
You can follow by saying some thing like you are breaking one of the ten commandments by working on the Sabbath. They have a reason all marked out on what rules in the bible they follow and which ones they don't want to follow is okay with God too.
So to a great many old or new testament are irrelevant.

Very interesting thread. My favorite one on here yet.

I've never understood why so many religions choose to ignore the 4th commandment, and instead consider Sunday to be the "holy" day...

It may SEEM insignificant -- but God found it IMPORTANT enough to INCLUDE it in only TEN commandments...

God is BOTH the alpha and the omega -- so THIS commandment should NOT change -- regardless of OLD or NEW testament...

jmo...

 I just realised I wrote 'bithing', I meant BITCHING about people outside this forum.

^ Ho hum. Hats off to both of us for being consistent but all this blather doesn't help "Awesome" dilemma.

It's amazing..so many of these "Christians" talk about the Islamic boogyman when they themselves have the same goal as the Islamic extremists do,a nice theocratic government.

Reli-fundi christians consider themselves superiour Human Beings in comparison to non-believers and atheïsts like me. This topic is another nice item which I like to discuss with reli-fundi christians.

Awesomeness, there is no way you can have a good debate with the clever & smart reli-fundi christians as all of them are very aware that they will loose the debate. Reli-fundi christians living in The Netherlands (we have 100,000s of them) know this very well.

There are ofcourse many ways (likely > 1,000) to avoid this debate (see #40). Clever reli-fundi christians know all these > 1,000 tricks, and will use them again and again. That's just their way of debating.

However, be careful to start a real tough debate with any reli-fundi christian who might think that you are his 'best friend':
(Deuteronomium 13:5-9)

Best wishes
