list 3 or 5 books -- whatever is easier for you...

I have tons;

But here are five I have read more than once--so they must be good!

1) The Folding Star Alan Hollinghurst

2) A Boy's Own Story by Edmund White

3) (three way tie) Perfect Freedom by Gordon Merrick

Out of the Pocket by Bill Konigsberg (about a gay HS QB...excellent)

The Kid....by Dan Savage

To Fulfill a Prophesy by LJB (an internet story)

Fireside Romance by Drew Hunt (an internet story)

Fried Green Tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Café by Fannie Flagg

Vintage: A Ghost Story by Steve Berman

Loving Brian (Photography) Howard Roffman (Photographer), Brian Hess (Principal)

I used the term “book” loosely

Thanks thynight...I know people don't read as much anymore, but I was getting worried this thread would die after one post.

Bye the way, Howard Roffman books are awesome.

I'll always loved the first three gay books I ever bought:

Dancer From the Dance by Andrew Holleran
Faggots by Larry Kramer
Christopher and His Kind by Christopher Isherwood

They really changed my world by giving me the courage to be myself.

You're welcome.

Also, so are most of his models.!oops! When I get up the money I am ging to get Private Moments, which is a new one of his.

I have to tell you though it took me awhile to think of some books. I do most of my GLBT themed reading online. There are a great many authors online that will never get the recognition they should. And a great many authors that are over priced in bookstores.

the only book i can think of that i read when i was a teenager was: The Boys On The Rock, i bought it and lost it, then found it at a bookstore, and then i let someone borrow it never got it back! what a great story!

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Boys-Rock-Stonewall-Inn-Editions/dp/0312104332"]Amazon.com: The Boys on the Rock (Stonewall Inn Editions) (9780312104337): John Fox: Books[/ame]

Magics Pawn--- which is a tragic love story in a science fiction book:) pretty neat. Mercedes Lackey is cool

The Persian Boy.

The Bible.

Front Runner.

I dont read gay themed novels by choice, i really dont enjoy it.

but i did read Exquisite Corpse by chance and loved it.

I guess you could say Naked Lunch also... thought that's more inter-species than homosexual... but still a lot of similar connetations

It's very difficult to just settle on 3, and the list is always changing, but this is what I came up with:

In September the Light Changes, by Andrew Holleran

The Married Man, by Edmund White

The Spell, by Alan Hollinghurst
