I find it amazing that after the rep system was scrapped for being disliked by so many that it is wanted back.
I have to admit that when I first joined JUB that I didn't understand what the rep system was at all. But after a while realizing what it was I thought it was a nice novelty. To be honest I didn't care whether I got a green square a red one or whatever. What I liked the most were the comments people would leave whether they were positive or not. That's why I like the comment system which is now in place. I truly think that this was a good change and still is much like the rep system because you can leave whatever kind of comment you wish.
Being identified is a feature I like because you don't have to sign your comment and it helps keep nasty comment at bay I believe for the most part. It really is nice to see who's making the comment.
Anyway back to the green squares I can't really say I miss them or not. I didn't mind them when they were there. Although I do remember they sparked my curiosity when I first joined.
I find it silly to hear some members say that they don't post as much or have as much interest anymore because the Little Green Squares are gone. I think this site is worth a lot more than some green squares.
So now there is talk about introducing a positive rep system. Well I don't think thats a bad idea especially for those who feel the need for it. It would be a nice novelty. I believe it was JD that had said in a thread "Hat Tipping" for a good post. If the negative rep stayed out of the picture this would pacify most.
Although I never have a problem with good or bad rep many had a problem with the negative rep and I am sure many of you remember all the bitching and complaining that went on constantly about it. After all of that I welcomed the scrapping of the system.
We are all human and we do have our differences and difference of opinion is one of the most common.
I welcomed all the rep or comment whether I liked it or not. I believe difference of opinion is something that should be savored. Not to be angered by.
That's what I love about the JUB message boards. All that opinion and discussion. The best message board site I know of.
So maybe we all will see the "Little Green Squares" again in the future.
Besides wouldn't they just be the right color for St. Patrick's day?
