Very believable, especially around us. While we live in a more deer-dense rural area now, our two unpleasant but not fatal (for us) encounters were in the suburbs where various factors (including wider multi-lane highways) probably make them more likely to end up in the wrong place. One confused animal tried to duck under our oncoming truck.

The only time I've been able to carve snow was when it was drifts after a complete white-out; all the snow particles were in a small size range and very evenly distributed.
