I think that's a guy I read about who has managed to collect one of just about every single rifle used by any military that had a bayonet -- look closely and he's got everything from flintlock to semi-auto (possibly full-auto; there's no way to tell from just this picture). If it's that guy, the collection is worth more than most Americans earn in a lifetime.

Though I'm guessing you don't understand what "exhibitionist" means given that picture as your response.

If you think I don't know Latin and modern European languages feeding part of your English vocabulary stock, you might be the one not guessing the sense of my response

Rice plants do not require flooded paddies or terraces to grow. However, rice can grow in water. Weeds can't.

When I was growing up our lower pasture was always nearly weed-free because it spent four or five months of the year as a swamp. It was interesting that a couple of grass species thrived in that while others didn't, which made it look noticeable different from the next pasture.

The Eastern most entrance to the Panama Canal opens into the Pacific Ocean and the Western most entrance opens to the Atlantic (Carabean Sea)

^ In other words, and it's fun to trick your friends with this one, you travel east when you sail from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean when you pass through the Panama Canal.

^ And the southern-most point in Canada is further south than California's northern border.

A way I put that once was when a friend said something about going north to Canada. I said, "Or we could go east". He was baffled until I told him that all of Oregon is north of the southernmost point of Canada -- then he had to look it up.

The portrait described by Vasari as "Mona Lisa" (overpaintings aside) is the one commonly known today as "Belle Ferronière" in the Louvre.

Yes, I know I had posted that before elsewhere, I just wanted to post something different from the above, to avoid double posting

When you see a 'shooting star', you are seeing a meteor. If the meteor survives its journey through the atmosphere and hits the earth, it becomes a meteorite.

When you see a meteor, it is not the meteor which is burning. The meteor is travelling so fast that the air can't get out of the way fast enough and becomes compressed. As it compresses, the temperatures rise immensely to the point of bursting into flames. It is the air which is burning, not the meteor. However, the temperatures are such that the meteor melts and fragments until it is a fraction of it's size when it entered the atmosphere.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Paddington Bear versus Russian Bear is going extra rounds!"

I thought for sure I'd find someone had done a gif of this, but no luck.
