Does anybody know any good pc programs that lock folders? I need them to be easy, like when you lock a folder it shall need just a password to unlock.

Why re-invent the wheel? This is why you create user accounts for every user on your computer - if they don't have admin rights, the can't read other people's document folders.

Thank you all, I have got my own account but I need it because I am not always in front of the computer while it's open and someone can get throuh my stuff.

Any other recommendations are welcome!!

TrueCrypt ( http://www.truecrypt.org/ ) might do the job for you, although I know you're after something simple and sometimes people can get a little lost in the TrueCrypt documentation. But essentially one TrueCrypt option is you create a single file that's a "container" and it becomes a virtual drive (with its own letter, once unencrypted) to hold your file/folder structure. For instance, you can create "gustischafer.tc" and it'll be scrambled and unreadable by anyone until you open it and enter the correct passphrase via TrueCrypt, then it actually represents what's holding your files.

Set your screensaver to require a password, or lock the computer when you leave your desk. I have to do this at work, its built into Windows.

I realize this thread is about Windows, but it may be worth noting that folder encryption has been automatic and a standard part of Ubuntu for some time now.

Just tick the box that says to encrypt the home directory when you install. Ubuntu will encrypt everything in your home directory (which is virtually all of your data) with your user password as the key. It is completely seamless - you won't notice any difference whatsoever between an encrypted home directory and an unencrypted one, during routine use.

But, without the password, no one will ever know what you have on your computer. Not even if they remove your hard drive and attack it with computer forensic tools.

I do the same as M10000; hide them in a folder under a false name buried a few levels deep where no one would look you can also right click the folder to make it literally hidden as long as you can remember the folder name you can navigate there by typing in the directory manually using Windows Explorer. It's easy and works just fine for me.
