Locker Room Nudity

in my school they guys are very open with what they got. even the Freshmen, we have to shower and everyone does, there are a few shy ones, but for the most part were all naked. *|*
 
A lot of young guys these days will reach adulthood without ever having seen another naked male body. The only things they have to compare their own bodies with are the freaks they see in porn. I wonder if this is one reason that so many of them seem to have this almost pathological fear of being seen naked.
 
Homosexuality is much more prevalent than it was just a decade ago so of course kids are more self consious in the locker room. No straight guy want's to be called gay and getting naked in front of a bunch of guys doesn't exactly scream "I'M STRAIGHT". I doubt it has anything to do with a more sexualized culture....guys are just really homophobic. And it really sucks, there's so much cock that's going unobserved.
 
i can remember being 14 running around the mens locker room in my tightie whities or naked. i have no shame. i love being nude in public and am DEFINITELY up for group sex.
 
I hated doing it (showering after gym (P.E.) in high school - but we HAD TO - there was no skipping it --

I've told this story before -but not for a while --
I was swimming at the "Y" - adult swim - in the evening - and not many guys there - so took my chances showering there at 9:00 p.m.
I'm standing by my locker drying off - and as i look down the aisle - i can see the mirror over the sink over to the right - a bit - and there is a GORGEOUS 20 SOMETHIN guy standing there totally nude - starting to SHAVE ! the further along he gets with the shaving -- the harder his cock gets -- and it's high enuff - over the lip of the sink - that i can see EVERYTHING !! pretty soon my "drying" activities changed to "rubbing" -- he totally concentrated on his shaving - i don't think he realized i had that particular view from that aisle - but you know how mirrors are - either that - or he knew very well - what what happening and he enjoyed the fact that i was watching.. When I was in my early teens, I was petrified about the prospect of
having to change or shower in the locker room for gym classes.

That all changed at age 13, when I tried and made the basketball team. Everyone on our team were exceptional cool about the whole nudity thing. Everyone just shucked off their practice clothes, grabbed their towel and soap, and headed off to the shower room. The shower room was a gang style, numerous shower heads all against the row, so their was no privacy.

Everyone showered, no one did not. I was pretty nervous that first time and I remember just letting my towel dangle in front of me as I walked to the shower. I think I expected someone to yell and point but no one said a thing, no one stared, and it was an incredible relief ! I think if someone had made fun of me then, I probably would still be in therapy today.

My senior year in high school, there were 3 boys that never showered after PE. They were ridiculed because they didn't shower.

I can see now how attitudes have changed but then so has technology. With the advent of digital cameras, cell phones that can take pictures, the internet as a vehicle to post those pictures, everyone has dove undercover. So, I can understand how attitudes have changed.

I still shower when I visit my gym but then only do so when it is convenient. Now younger people look at you like you are the freak if you choose to shower. But then I don't strut around the locker room naked as we did in school. Now I would wear a towel and only changed into my clothes in front of my locker.

I think it's funny that people are so uptight about their bodies. In high school we all showered after gym. At the gym when I was grown most every body showered after working out. It really was no big deal. The showers in my high school were even more arousing then usual. It was one long aisle of showers between two walls. You stood in line and filed in like cattle. If someone finished who wasn't at the end they had to work their way through and that aisle wasn't very wide so there was definitely some body bumping. I liked it alot.

It's definitely a generational transition thing.
We had to shower after gym, my son's generation isn't even given the time to.

We had naked swimming, but another guy and I, who were regular swimmers held the line and brought our suits - not worried about the guys, but the doors to the pool area weren't locked - more importantly, I wasn't going diving off the board w/out a suit on, thank you very much. The family jewels may not be record setters, but they were all I had, and I didn't want them smashed before I got a chance to use them!

Definitely funny at the town rec center to see the differences in who does/does not use the showers and how.

We've become too prudish.
 
Having gone to an all male high school, nudity in the locker room was a non-issue. It only took one depantsing and you got with the program. After that no one even noticed you walking around butt naked. But in university it was a different matter. I played soccer in the fall, and it seemed few team members striped. All of them became quick change artists. In the spring I played rugby, and it was a different world. All the guys could have cared less if you were naked, dressed or in drag. Guess it was just too many hits to the head to make us care one way or another.

i am from FRance, and its the second time in this thread that i read that some people used to swin naked at the Y ( what is it?), im very surprised, can u tell me more about it?

Everywhere you go, rugby players love to be nekkid. I knew a rugby player once, he used to tell me stories I still jerk off to 10 years later. His rugby player roommate that used to get naked and sit outside on the porch when he smoked so he wouldn't get the smell in anything. Or the visiting Army rugby team whose team skit for a big party with a bunch of visiting teams was performed entirely naked, and didn't involve them putting on clothes afterwards.

I myself was terribly shy all the way through highschool. Basic training cured me of that real quick. Now I hang with marines and since we've all been through boot camp, none of us are at all shy around each other and of course I have no problem in the locker-room anymore.

The "Y" = YMCA = "Young Men's Christian Association"
Around here, it is really a Family-Centric Not For Profit Fitness Center that has a pool weight rooms, other exercise areas. Our area Y's also have a Summer Camp for kids - Day camp programs that provide day care for working parents, and arts, crafts, physical fitness/outdoors sports opportunities for school aged kids. Ours also offer After School day care programs at some of the elementary schools.

They started out in Cities, and there are also YWCA's for the ladies. The Urban "Y's" of old also had rooms or beds that men could rent by the night/week - much like a hostel. They have evolved since then. Now, the pools are the focal point, and new Y's have the pools completely visible to people on the roads passing by - all glass windows -- so men only or women only swim times when people would be swimming in the nude wouldn't fly in our culture.

Maybe in Cannes and the French Riviera, where people aren't all quite such prudes, but not here. Not with windows so the whole world M/F Adult/Child could check you out!

The Boys Clubs and Girls Clubs of America are similar, and still found mainly in cities, but I don't think they had rooms/beds.

Any guy used to be able to go to any YMCA in North America and swim naked in their all-male swimming pools. It was great, obviously. Even in the early 1970's when they allowed nylon bathing suits to be used most guys still chose to be nude. Often (especially on Saturdays) a wonderful range of ages could be found in the pool.

Mainly they are just too embarassed, I know I was. But I think it only had to do with my age then, now I don't care.

thats how it is. i am on a swim team and i have only seen maybe one kid that actually didnt care to show his junk. the people that are comfortable and are use to locker rooms dont care as much. and they undress when there are not as many people around. they are pretty comfortable though. im one of those people that change in the stall. its horrible, but hey. im in a town where being gay is taboo and everyone knows. so yeah. its awkward. even though. i love it. haha. yeah. thats how it is.

jeremy since you're on the swim team, you should work up your courage and slowly become more comfortable with your nudity. Why should you be the only one changing in the stall? being gay doesn't mean you can't change with the guys.
