The thing about the Log Cabin Republicans has been their historic moderation.... they never were hard line conservatives. They've been deeply delusional in the past thinking they could get Republican leadership to move away from their anti- LGBTQ stands, but this stand is indefensible, and their collapse is justified if they cannot see what the landscape really looks like... if they mainly believe in Trump and GOP exclusionist, bigoted policies or make excuses for them because they support the gist of his economic policies. The breakoff group "GoProud" founded by Christopher Barron and JimmyLaSalvia were meant as a stronger conservative alternative for LGBTQ Republicans, but the ironic thing is that while Barron is every bit the piece of crap he was when he founded that group(responsible for the rise of CPAC, the infamous conservative annual spewfest)… LaSalvia left the group and the GOP a few years back when he saw clearly there was no way the GOP was changing its stripes by being more welcoming and supportive of the LGBTQ community... became an independent and works against the GOP these days. And this was BEFORE Trump's rise, before he was even part of the conversation... before the GOP hit rock bottom.

The moment that Don't Ask, Don't tell was repealed and the moment that Obergefell was decided...there was no purpose whatsoever for conservative homos to have an organization that just begged crumbs from the table.

The remaining right wingers interested in having their very own club that would sit just outside the GOP tent emerged as hardline generally racist conservatives in 2015/16 who are quite content if the hurt is directed at all the things they aren't....but who then have sunk to the depths by felling so insulated by their own wealth and white privilege, that they are standing by the current regime setting out to hurt all the lgbtq citizens who aren't people like them.

What I want to tell them is that eventually TrumpCo. will get around to sewing pink triangles on their uniforms too.
