You should probably move out.
In Jan. I gave my 30 days at my apt. and moved back home to save up some money for my next place and it has been a nightmare. So I feel your pain...but their house, their rules and so on.

Just try to keep cool. My mother has started this really obnoixious nag habbit that just makes me want to smother her. Women thinks I'm her housewife or whatever...we just have to stay calm, or have a really good alibi when we do it.

I agree with how you feel, but words escape me.

It sounds like you may want to consider working toward getting into your own space, where only you (or perhaps you and a roommate or two) have control over what's on the cable/satellite. Didn't Don Imus formerly do a show which was simulcast on MS/NBC for years? The content of that show was racier than 90% of the Logo stuff.

She'd better block out all the ESPN channels, too, because sometimes they show stuff like boxing or gymnastics. Those nice bodies could arouse some prurient interests don'cha know.

Oh...get rid of the CARTOON networks, too! Some of those cartoons show almost unspeakable amounts of violence.

Oh, never mind...violence is fine. (This was written while all of your other replies preceding mine were on their way...)

I agree 100% here. If your mother doesn't want a particular television show/channel to be watched in her house, she ultimately has the right to make such a decision. Definitely no fun, I know. But hey, we've all been there. ;)

it is intolerable to be treated in such a juvenile manner. I would have bitched her out to such a degree she would have either relented or we would have had WW III.

We all handle it differently.

Am I correct in assuming it your Mom's house? If so,she can block out any channel she deems offensive or simply doesn't want to watch. That includes LOGO.She doesn't have to be politically correct in her own house.

For instance,I hate professional wrestling. While I haven't blocked it, I don't watch it.It's my house,I can choose not to watch it,regardless of what fans may think.

Personally, while I have LOGO on my list of channels,I rarely watch it.I find most of the programing to be little more than a gay minstrel network..I get so sick and tired of watching shows about the plight of wealthy homos living in loft apartments with breath taking city views bitching and moaning because they can't get a date.

I'd recommend moving out, maybe pay your own cable bill. Then you can watch marathons of Queer as Folk and live concerts of lesbians with accoustic guitars.

Alot of Logo's programming...RuPual Drag Race, etc. Along with most of their movies are available for free on their website. logoonline.com Some of their stuff is also on itunes. If you've been watch Queer As Folk it's not on the website, but often plays uncut on SHO 2.

I forgot to mention. Logo is a sister channel to VH1. Check their schedule sometimes Logo shows air there as well. I dropped Logo because my cable company bundles it with Showtime. First it was $5.00, then $10.00 now it's $14.00 a month. At the end of the month they're doing a free Showtime preview, I'm curious to see if they unlock Logo as well.

That sucks. My parents can't program anything on Direct TV without asking me for help. When I was 8, my parents blocked out some porn channels so I couldn't watch them. The password was my dad's age :)

She did you a favor. Watch LOGO online - the channel itself is absolute shit.

Beyond that, your furor is understandable.

I was kinda excited when I realized we had LOGO over here. That shit faded reeeeal quick. Occasionally they'll have a decent movie on, rarely even bother checking to see what's airing anymore.

If I were living in someone else's house, I'd just be damned grateful I had access to a TV! And satellite TV to boot! Wow.

Seriously, kids. I hate to sound like the creepy old fart that I am, but TV is not a basic human right. Be grateful you have the opportunity to have a roof over your head, utilities, running water, blah, blah, blah.

Now get off my lawn. :D

*shakes walker in a menacing manner*

*sigh* same responses going to refer to my above posts kthanxbai

Sorry. Just not feeling real sympathetic right now. My bad. :( Just some of us have a few more problems than missing one TV channel. :(

But just for levity:

Your edit makes valid points. Thanks for adding that. Blocking out one channel IS a valid bitch, and that's too bad. Especially about the content issue.

However, at the same time, I can also see the point in a parent making your life a little less comfortable. And that's my point. The economy sucks, etc. and it is hard to find a job these days. Be grateful you HAVE a place to crash. Many others in your situation don't have that option.

Now, back to some late night levity.

Or maybe I should get a spot in the welfare/unemployment housing lines and become the latest addition to White Trash suburbia USA? Let me just get behind Kevin Federline...

Don't be silly. Kevin Federline has an endorsement deal with Ed Hardy and huge alimony checks from his ex-wife.

But point taken... I do get it that sometimes necessity lays out you gotta live with Mom.

That said, I sure hope you didn't take it laying down that she blocked Logo.

...your age is showing, Yooper. :p

I gotta find a clearer copy of the guy with the cane and make it my avatar. :D

Seriously, though, I am getting weary of hearing all the time from 'kids' with a sense of entitlement and whining when things get OH SO difficult (no offense to the OP, I'm speaking in general terms here). Life sucks. It is hard. And it is so fucking awful when the playxstationbox or expanded digital 64 inch TV or whatever becomes hard to come by. :-({|=

I understand that sometimes moving home is the only option. Nice. But I lose all respect when it comes with no strings. If you have to move home as an adult, fine, but it still doesn't relieve you of responsibility. One of the best solutions I've heard is once you are out of High School, and you are living at home, it is Room and Board, baby, unless you are in school as a full time student. Period. (Exceptions made on a case by case basis, but time limited). None of this 'a year or two until you get on your feet' bullshit.

I'm almost fifty fucking years old and I can't move home again. I have bills and responsibilites, and I just gave up my business four years ago to 'do the right thing.' And it sucks. I've got two disconnect notices sitting on my kitchen table right now and I'm fucking working full time. And ya know what? I'm not bitching that I can't afford a Wii or a New Car or a damn new pair of shoes right now. It's just life.
