I dunno if any of you have actually watched the channel before. I decided to give it a try and there was a program called CBS news on LOGO last nite. I caught the end of the program and apparantly they were interviewing some HIV advocate. I will say it was extremely depressing. It seems like a lot of the programing on it is bleh but I may watch a movie sometime. As long as it isnt some drab 70s or 80s hollywood story.

There was a thread about LOGO in the Hot Topics forum, which I hardly ever go into, and was lucky to even have caught it.

It's funny, I have been asking for a half hour newscast on LOGO since the channel launched, and now that it's here, I find I barely watch for more than 5 minutes. There's has been a huge AIDS focus, which I can understand, since it debuted a few weeks into World AIDS Day, but hopefully once that's over, it can actually focus a bit more on gay rights. It got the "yay" and "nay" votes wrong (off by one) on ENDA, so I hope that they will put more effort into fact checking when they do these headlines.

Yeah, it's highly easy to pan LOGO. When news first broke that it was coming out, I was really criticizing anyone who said it was gonna be a gay version of BET. Unfortunately, I think they might have been very prescient. I'm not saying I don't want a gay-themed channel like LOGO, I'm just hoping they have enough advertising dollars to actually do more in the way of quality programming (read; new/original). Frankly, HERE! is doing a somewhat better job with the original programming, although a huge amount of the movies they put out there are quite depressing as well.

I watch Logo every once in awhile. I wish they would have better programming than what they have now.

the only thing I really watch on LOGO is NEWNOWNEXT...they play some great new music on that show. Other than the occasional movie there's not much of interest on there for me.

Ditto... everything on there I've already seen or don't really care to see. Although I did like that gay travel show they had. I don't know if they still have it on or not.

I work at Logo so maybe I'm a bit biased, but I think it's not as bad as people say. I like a lot of the original programming like the show with Ant, Coming Out Stories, NewNowNext (I've discovered some really great music  ), and Noah's Arc (cheesy Sex and the City bootleg--but a guilty pleasure). I also discovered my favorite gay movie ever--I Think I Do--because of Logo.

I think people need to give it time to really find itself. It's only been around for a few years.

I forgot about Coming Out Stories, I saw some of those episodes but they just didn't grab me. They weren't compelling enough to bring me back or to make me sit and watch. The programming is inconsistent, it seems like LOGO is still trying to find its place so you're correct. Don't get me wrong, when LOGO first premiered I was all about that channel but my interest soon waned. It's cool that there's a "gay" channel with original gay programming but there has to be more. Just because it's a gay channel doesn't mean that everything has to be gay.

Another show that was interesting was that fabulous wedding show with Scott Thompson. The one where the two power gays got married in this huge two day wedding was so weird. You could totally see that some of the straight guests were uncomfortable.

Hit the nail on the head. In a recent meeting there was an indication that that's the new direction.

lol, no I'm not but I can tell you it's doubtful you'll see those types of shows anytime soon. I don't think they want to go the trashy MTV route.

I have been waging my own little war with Dish Network to carry the Logo channel. I have emailed and called them many times but so far it hasn't worked. The last time I called and asked them why when they have every channel under the sun can't they offer one gay channel. The reply I got was " well we have The L Word". I told them first of all The L Word is a Lesbian only show and Dish Network isn't offering it. It is just a show on a channel that you happen to carry.

I know Logo may or may not be all it is cracked up to be but it more the principle of it. They can offer tons of religious channels, golf channels, channels dedicated to fishing and every other channel. But they can't even offer a gay only channel. At one time they did offer a gay pay-per-view channel called HERE TV but they even stopped carrying that now.

Anyone else here with Dish Network or even if you don't have them please give them a call or send them a email. I think if enough people bitch it may get them to notice the gay community more and carry the Logo channel. Here is a link to their contact info.

You ought to create a blog to this effect and create links to it on all the other GLBT/progressive blogs and sites... you might manage to get a real campaign for yourself there if enough people take notice and join in. I know a lot of GLBT Dish Network subscribers would be in your gratitude if you're successful.

But for sure, as someone who's been involved in all sorts of campaigns from the smallest level to the largest, it takes more than one person e-mailing repeatedly to get things done.

Doing Time on Maple Drive

They reaired that recently on some station. Can't place which at the moment, and will probably never be able to, but it was way less depressing now than it was the first time I watched it. Of course it was a different time and I was much younger and thought being gay was a fate worse than death, so.

I'm certain Logo has shown An Early Frost 'cause the first time I saw it was on Logo one day.

I watch logo every now and again they show the same movies all the time and shows they have like Steve and Adam ( I think thats what it is called ) are very stupid I'm bi sexual not a queen so I think those shows are stupid they need to be more like HERE aleast they show pretty good movies.

I think you're thinking of Rick & Steve because Adam & Steve is a movie.

Anyway, there's other shows besides Rick & Steve--lots of people love it.

Yeah I love Rick and Steve, very funny I also like Adam and Steve too, good movie, or funny actuallly
