I like the LOGO network but .......

First off, they have too many series for lesbians, second there are too many commercials and finally why do they censor their programming? For god's sake it's a network that caters to gays & lesbians. They delete the nude scenes & bleep the profanity. It's cable, are they afraid of offending us??

I like the old QAF reruns but they cut all the scenes up. They do the same with Noah's Ark and probably the L Word if I watched it. Why do they have to censor a network that is tailored to LGBT'S? I see more naked skin on FX and it's a cable network also. What is the difference? The cable companies across the US are more likely to carry FX than LOGO and none of the FX shows get bleeped. I just got LOGO last year and had to switch to Direct TV to get it.

BTW, I just watched the new "shirts & skins." I was disappointed, it was more like a documentary.

Anyone out there feel the same way about the censorship on LOGO?

i did think that was kinda odd how they do that. what pissed me off was that
i took QAF off my netflix queue when i saw it was airing on Logo, not realizing they were gonna censor the hell out of it.

>>>First off, they have too many series for lesbians...

Logo is in a bind in that they're trying to appeal to two demographics who have almost nothing in common. The sketch show usually mixes both gay and lesbian sketches fairly well, but other than that, the only thing that might be of interest to both demos is something about "the gay movement" as a whole. Otherwise, at any given time, they're either appealing to one demo or the other. If that's 40% lesbian programming (and I don't even think it's that much), that's 40% of programming you won't care to watch.

The censoring of Logo shows is flat out prejudice. There's no other excuse. It's just like on YouTube way more gay oriented material requires adult confirmation even if it isnt explicit.

There does seem to be more lesbian shows but they are also more quality than any of the gay shows which makes them stand out imo. For the most part they have better production value, acting, and stories. A lot of gay programing is just cheap in every way. I think it's much harder to get money into gay projects because we all know lesbians are more palatable, acceptable, and even hot to mainstream society.

My theory is that gay men are just a lot easier to please. I once rented a porn film aimed at (straight) women. And I really liked it - the production values were amazing, the music well-done, there was a good storyline, and the sex was both hot AND realistic.

Guys, apparently, just want to get to the sucking and fucking.

As a network, it's alright I guess. Granted, I only watch the documentaries and comedy specials, the rest is just kind of blah. Most of the gay men on their shows are almost a joke, which is just sad. When I watch gay-centered programming, I expect a little something, and none of the original shows I've watched ever live up to that. With that said, some of the documentaries they show are fantastic. It'd be great if they would focus more on those, and less on badly written shows stereotypical characters.

I agree with the censoring. I just watch it for Graham Norton. HILARIOUS!

I agree with everything zeropercentdown said in the original post and recently had a conversation with a friend about all of those issues. I don't get it either.
My biggest complaint is the number of commercials. I think it was the movie "Latter Days" The movie is basically 90 minutes long and it had a 2 and one half hour time slot. Guess what all of the extra time was. It was excrutiating:mad:](*,)

Logo network sucks balls they always show reruns of the same shit.

I just want to know why you're complaining about "too many shows for lesbians" when really, the ONLY lesbian show i've ever known of was The L Word, where i can pick many gay men shows out... i'm glad there are more lesbian shows than just the one(If you don't count HBO's The Wire, which has a lesbian lead and a gay anti-hero)...

But other than that, yeah, Viacom/MTV are a bunch of fucking nitwits for gearing a channel towards the LGBT community and then slashing the hell out of it. I don't even watch it anymore - not worth it.

They play quite a few lesbian (or slightly lesbian) shows on Logo. I don't even remember the name since I flip the channel whenever I see it, but it's the British show about the female prisoners. It seems like it's ALWAYS on.

They're getting a little better with their original programming. There was a time when you turned on Logo and all you had were reruns of Tales from the City.

I like watching Sordid Lives (good lord Rue McClanahan looks like hell!).

I do find the Big Gay Sketch show quite annoying. The skits are predictable, and not very funny. They need to ax that one.

I think LOGO is owned by CBS because they were doing a weekly hour news program and I think it mentioned CBS in the title.

Someone further up the list of postings mentioned the only lesbian show he has seen is "The L Word". The other lesbian shows I'm refering to is "Bad Girls" "Exs & Ohs", "Tripping the Velvet" and the stand up comedian shows. That one week they did a "Bad Girls" marathon as they counted down to season 5, that was the longest week I have ever endured.

If they just didnt censor the shows would be fine with me. I was anxiously awaiting the QAF reruns & the storyline about Drew the football player and here they cut out all the hot scenes.

My favorite LOGO series is the "Big Gay Sketch Show" and I do like it when they have those marathons. I couldn't decide if I liked "Transamerica Love Story" (I think that was the title) The show where Capernia was trying to find a boyfriend.

I was totally disappointed in "Shirts & Skins"

I watched Logo when I first got it, however now I no longer enjoy it. I'm actually thinking of getting the Here! Network, does anyone here have it?

LOL... couldnt've said it better myself. :=D:

I subscribe to here! online. It's a lot better than Logo. There original programming is better. They have a better selection of gay-oriented films, and they change every week. I highly recommend it over LOGO.

Also, here produced one of the best gay films ever, Shelter. It's a simple, yet great film!!!

Yea Here! is a lot better. The show Paradise falls is good. Why cant Logo have something like that?

...I don't understand what catering to a LGBT audience has to do with censoring or not censoring nudity...

And..it's a gay network. Does gay not include both gay men and gay women?

LOGO is owned by MTV which is owned by Viacom, which also owns CBS. :)

And as far as Shirts & Skins....what exactly were you expecting? It's a reality show. Why wouldn't it be similar to a documentary?

Eh, if I want porn I'll watch porn. I'd like to see quality gay programming.

I think the "Shirts and Skins" is disappointing because of the low level of quality. If MTV wons Logo and produces shows like Real World, Two-a-Days, The Paper, and Making the Band I would imagine this show to be comparable. But it's just so cheap and disjointed. The picture quality and production value is so low. Other reality shows tell a story and it just seems like they tried to do that but failed. It's like random voiceover/archival footage, then random footage in the house. It's a mess.
