London meetups

hey mate.
i live in lancaster. if i was to travel down to london by train it would only cost me around £80-90 to get there.
dont be afraid of asking people to come and see you. london is a good night out from what i can gather (as long as you are with the right people).

I'm up for a London meet. I'm in Holland, but fares are cheap at the moment. If there's a JUB meet, I'll do my best to make it! :D

There sure don't seem to be a huge number of UK meetups going on. It seems that the American-British ratio is a little overwhelming. Then again, it's up to us to organise this sort of thing.

I actually agree that London may not be the best place to meet. I suppose it has more nightlife than any where else, but that's not necessarily what people are looking for. And it sure as heck isn't central! I'm in the SouthWest, so it's not bad for me, but for Northerners I'd predict that it wouldn't be an easy journey.

(Though Holland? Now that's dedication!)

Being from Norwich, it wouldn't really make much difference where the meet was - Norfolk is designed not to let people out (or in)!

Seriously though, it wouldn't make any real difference to me where any potential meet were to take place, although it would be nice to travel to somewhere less 'typical' perhaps.

I agree with the previous poster - London isn't particularly central geographically (although most routes do seem to lead there), and I personally wouldn't be looking for nightlife either, but that's because I'm an old fogie at heart!

London isn't geographically central but it is the easiest place for most people to get to.

Birmingham's a good, relatively central, alternative.

Hard to see how London isn't the most convenient place to be honest.

Because even from where I am, about 60 miles away, it costs about £30 for a rail fare. If you're coming in from anywhere west of Bristol or north of Manchester that's going to go up to in excess of £100. And if you don't have the stamina to stay out clubbing all night you're gonna have to pay for a hotel on top of that.

London is only convenient if you happen to live in the south-east. It's not exactly central and it's hideously expensive.

Of course, pretty much anywhere in the UK has the same objections. Which is why it took three years to organize the last one.

Speaking for myself only:

if I want to go anywhere in the UK (air travel excluded), I need to go through London, so it's the most convenient for me by far. Okay, there's Canterbury (bus stop before London), but I doubt people want to go there. :)

London, bruv. Standard.

How can it NOT be easy for anyone to get to London?! Seriously..?! I just, don't.. get it! I live in Cornwall (deep Southwest), and it take like an hour by plane (£60 return)..

But, yeah.. I just guess some of us can, and some of us can't. ..|

^ If it's more money than time: National Express. I managed a £3 return London-Cardiff just two weeks ago!
