London Olympics 2012

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

Does anyone know what that tall cage tower outside Olympic Stadium is? I thought it would be for the torch.

That stupid tower is as annoying as Phillyurban's obsessive and redundant complaints about the ceremony.

eh, NBC is probably taking them down? They did pay for exclusive broadcasting rights, after all.

Re: LOL i can't find the London Olympics ceremony on youtube

The olympic committee owns all the rights.

You'll have to pay to see it when they release it.

Re: LOL i can't find the London Olympics ceremony on youtube

The video is copyrighted. It gets taken down almost immediately. I'm sure the networks have staff surfing YouTube 24/7.

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

You didn't like it. We get it.
You think you could have done it infinitely better. We get it.
You don't really know much about British history. We get it.
You think the United States (and Australia and Canada) should have been included in the ceremonies. You don't get it.

You can bet your sweet ass that, if Benny Hill were still alive, he would have been dressed in track shorts and sleeveless T-shirt and chasing scantily-clad women around the stadium to the strains of Yakkety Sax.

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

^ Yes, that's exactly what it reminds me of!

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

As an American that lives in London has dual citizenship the fact that NBC refused to show our tribute to the more than 50 people who died on 7/7/2005 during or 9/11 to speak was disgraceful if your U.S> you did not see it. In the future The U.S. can shoev there 9/11 shit over here. This country lost almost 7000 in London in WW 2 for NBC to do that. On 9/12/2001 during the changing of the Guard at the Palace. The Queen instructed the band not to play our anthem but the Star Spangles Banner and thats the Shit the Fn US did SHAME

Re: LOL i can't find the London Olympics ceremony on youtube

Could be because the entire thing was like.... 3 and a half hours long

Re: LOL i can't find the London Olympics ceremony on youtube

you're not missing much really. it was sad, yeah tear jerking sad, but it was also boring. the saddest part of it was watching some guy take 20 minutes to run his ass from the dock into the stadium with the torch. i wanted to cry from watching him take so long to getting his ass in the arena. they couldn't just put him in one of those some ass caddys they use to move people around a football field or something to just wrap it up quick where it just took 5 minutes? did they have to make him run? the man musta had arthritis in the knees or something. i know london has money like that. they couldn't afford that for that poor man? it was hard to watch especially for my eyelids. i was trying my hardest to not fall asleep.

Re: The London Olympics Opening Ceremony

I'm honestly having a hard time understanding what it is you're trying to say, here

He's talking about NBC replacing that segment with an interview between Ryan Seacrest and Michael Phelps. The segment was a tribute to the British citizens who died during the terrorist attacks in both 7/7/2005 and 9/11 and during the World Wars. He's talking about how, on the day after 9/11, The Star Spangled Banner was played during the Changing of the Guard instead of the British anthem. None of that was important enough for NBC to broadcast and it's a shame that Americans weren't allowed to see it.

Well allow me to remedy that. The film quality isn't too good, but this is, as gsdx says, the day after 9/11 when, at The Queen's command, the American national anthem was substituted for the British one at the ceremonial Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
