You'll understand what this means if you watch the video:

I'm surprised nobody saw this coming.

I love it.

The developer is actually a James Bond super-villain who will fry the City of London unless he gets more Pussy Galore.

Well Captain Obvious was obviously on a holiday when they decided to build a huge parabolic torus reflector ...

This story reminded me of the East BerlinTV tower, which was built in the shape of a spike with a steel globe like a giant glitter ball at the top. It is visible for many miles around and the idea was to symbolize the achievements of communism and inspire awe in the people on the other side of the wall and beyond. But when the sun shines on the globe it forms a bright cross, making it look like a religious building. The West Berliners christened it 'The Pope's Revenge'.

Building owners affected should mount a reflector panel near the focal point and send back the heat to the building hopefully causing it to explode!

Sorted.

London's financial district is beginning to look like an undignified mess of over-aged grand-dads pretending they are young, hip and 'vital'. These new gimmicky towers and the painfully ridiculous Olympics tower are just childish.

Sir Christopher Wren would be freaking-out in his grave.

The Olympic tower is happily nowhere near the City of London. I agree with you Mr Grimshaw about most of the modern buildings in the square mile, but I do kind of like the Gherkin.

I'm actually liking lot of the new towers complimenting the great architecture of older London. This tower though is , pardon the pun, indeed a "hot mess"!

There's too much focus on London anyway...most of the best places in the UK aren't in London. London is hardly representative of the UK.

^So true , Lord York and i do not see things in the same perspective on many things.........:D
Though York is one of the most glorious places , apart from Bodmin and the Highlands of my native home . That i have had the pleasure of visiting many a time .

As for London........keeping schtum .

And the saddest thing about the whole sorry mess is that only a small percent of the buildings are occupied
