Long Term Couples' Secrets To Success

a tid bit from us,

We have been together for 27 yrs this last August. And we feel that our key is that we completly trust and communicate and love each other. That is our foundation. The rest builds it self 1 brick at time to make our home. We are both retired now he at 43 in 02" and me 40 in 06".

Thankfully he did some very wise investing, sold his bussiness, and bought a few rentals, before the economy crashed. so we are together just about 24/7. And I would not change it for 1 second.
 
It can last or it can fade or it can come and go intermittently. It all depends. After 28 years the thrill I get touching his skin is the same as it was the first time. And every time I touch him he tells me how much it thrills him. Our history and our love for one another is strong and helps us over our bumpy times. Getting married last weekend was a dream I never imagined coming true.
 
COmmunication is the key element for us.
 
I actually learned a lot about romance/love from my mom this past weekend who has been married to my dad for 32 years. She put me in my place (probably the only person who can) about romance and what people think and what it actually is.
 
Our (me and my other halfs) relationship has lasted because we actually love each other. He has forgiven my drunken rants and I have forgiven his impulsive nature. We both have our faults and we both have our strong points. Together we can do ANYTHING!!

But it takes two to tango so luck be with the guys on this site seeking a meaningful relationship.

Really? So do you find people the same age as you attractive or
people in their 20s and 30s attractive ?

Sorry about your loss man, but I'm glad you were able to enjoy him for the time you had him. Consider yourself one of the lucky ones :-)
 
We've been together for 13 years, since grad school. Last time I was asked our secret, I (only half jokingly) said we never take each other seriously and never tell each other the truth, and have a lot of sex both with each other and others. Oh, and we never go to bed angry.

Here's another attempt, in no particular order:

Regular sex
Look your best
Have shared interests, but also share interests and show interest, even if feigned
The opposite of all of the above
Don't waste time analyzing each other or the relationship
Don't waste time being angry or carrying a grudge
Appreciate that deceit can be more efficacious and virtuous than truth
Appreciate that you can't be everything to each
Appreciate that infatuation, affection, and love come in waves, and ebb
and flow
Spend time apart
Have a sense of humor about yourself, your partner and your relationship
Adore each other, but not all of the time

Our individual and shared interest in and devotion to each other's immediate and extended families has been immeasurably important in our continuing happiness.
 
I continue to believe that seperate bedrooms are the primary reason why my parents have stayed together 43 years. If you don't get good sleep, everything else sucks.
