many people are already anxious for Christmas to arrive, and it is still almost three months away. I think it is the most celebrated christian celebration in the whole world.

What.............already??? #-o

I just put the Christmas lights back up in the attic. :(

I will not step into a mall betwen Oct. 31st and the day after Thanksgiving. I go ballistic (sp?) if I see the decorations up before Thanksgiving.

I love Christmas and I love shopping!! I cant wait to continue Christmas shopping. My problem is that Per every one present I buy, I get about 5 items for myself. Is that selfish?

Nah!

i feel the exact same way...i love Christmas and it's always fun. it's the holiday that celebrates Jesus' birth and happiness and I love it

Actually it is 76 days until Christmas. I love Christmas. I'm playing Christmas music and shopping already. I'd put up the tree if it wouldn't look so out-of-place this early.

We started putting things out a few weeks ago already in the stor I work. Just craft stuff, and knick knacks, but still Christmas. I can't wait til the season gets here

I'm looking forward to Christmas because it will mean half of my courses will be over!
Woohoo!

And here I thought it was because you were looking forward to my Christmas Card.

At least you're pragmatic about it. ;)

I need to do Christmas shopping... and my present has already arrived. I'm forbidden to open the box that arrived addressed to my girlfriend. It's ironic since my b-day's in a month and she openly admits that she doesn't have a present bought yet. LOL!

Can I say "I'm moving" in response to "Why didn't I get a present?"

I can't wait for Xmas either, it'll mean one quarter of this sea of Uni work i'm wading through will be over and i can go to the pub again...:(

Funny you should say that, RiverRick.

I invited this guy I'm dating over my house last week. If I do say so myself, it's a rather gorgeous 100 year old house. He walks in the front door, skips over the stained glass and gorgeous woodwork, and his eyes immediately jump to the string of Christmas lights hanging over an archway, and he says:

Are those lights still up from last year?

Then his eyes follow the string of lights to the cord dangling from the wall, and says:

Oh, and that dangling cord has to go.

I think he was ready to report me to the Gay Authorities so they could revoke my Gay Card.

He definitely thinks I'm "not gay enough".

It's funny; he's a hunky, macho guy. But as soon as he opens his mouth.... you know he's gay. :D

In any case, I ignore Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I only celebrate because my family does; I'm pagan-ish myself. Of course, Christmas was stolen from pagans, anyway...

I love what Christmas stands for.

I hate what Christmas has become.

Yeah, the shops are stuffing their shelves with X'mas goodies already....I think it's a bit over the top considering it is still months away BUT I really am looking forward to it - it IS my favorite time of the year!!! Yay!!! :xmas:

I'm sorry to be the party pooper here. I would consider myself to be quite devout and in my heart of hearts I know we should all be happy etc and yet for the last 10 years or more I have become more and more depressed at this time. A few years ago I talked to one of our deaconesses about this and she said she didn't look forward to it either. I was amazed. She went on to say that for her it was a period of loneliness because of family circumstances etc.
I hate all the commercialism and materialism, the fact that people start panicking if the sprouts aren't on by 1st Nov (joke), the obscenity of how much food and drink we buy, the fact that it is Christ's birthday and yet the vast majority don't invite him to his own party.

Again, I'm really sorry that I'm the oddball here.

I will end on two positive things about Cristmas however, ie the two things I do enjoy about Christmas Eve:
1. Listening to the Festival of Lessons and Carols from Kings College Cambridge on the radio
2. Going out into the garden in the middle of the night (at about midnight actually) and if it's a clear frosty night, gazing up at the stars and trying to understand the beauty of creation itself. Whoa- I'd better stop there- getting a bit heavy.

I wish I'd read your post dynk before I started going on and on and on: you managed to express so succintly in two short sentences what I was trying to say.Thanks.

i love xmas! i love presents, i love decorations yaayyyy :D

and it's also 2 days after my birthday!

I already started buying presents ! :P

Glad to see there are a few others that don't look forward to Christmas, or the holiday season as a whole. The combination of sadness...family members who either have passed or can't stand each other, the fact that I have no one special to share it with. = The day I long for is Jan. 2nd.

But I manage to :-) through most of it anyway.
