Well I used to consider myself pretty much not flaming or anything but now... people tell me I "look" gay!

Is this a good thing since people can now tell or bad because I don't look straight?

Any thoughts?

i've definately become much more "gay" since I came and stopped double-checking every action to make sure it wasn't "gay". my friends and I joke about it...but you know what...I really don't care.

WHAT people are telling you this?? Are they gay?? If they are not gay, how would they know if you "look" gay?? (unless you are wearing a boa and red slippers from the Wizard of Oz!) If they ARE gay, they have no room to talk. As Caeth mentioned, who cares? Be yourself and let the rest of them eat their hearts out. They WILL get over it!

When someone calls me fag I just hit 'em with my purse

Seriously, I don't worry about it. I dress and act to be me and so should you

I think be comfortable who you are. You are gay, so looking gay is great, and it does help to let others know you are gay for pulling for obvious reasons, and it you are having fun and are comfortable, go for it.

I definaly think I look a bit gay, I try and dress well, and some times when I want to be can play it up a bit, and I am happy and proud with that, but other gay people are happy in their own style. Find out what you like and are happy with and don't worry about what others think.

If you look a bit gay, and are happy, cool, go for it!

There are some people who look/act gay and they are sweet, there are those who are disgusting.
so if it comes out natural to you and you feel like it is normal than go for it, but if you do 'gay' stuff to attract other's that is disgusting.

Oh yeah i totally agree rollex that bothers me when people fake it up with all the stereotypes...

its just that its funny people telling me that cuz i changed styles and now i wear tight pants the emo pants and yeah i have a feeling thats the give away....

but i am comfortable in my style and i dont think i look gay i think i dress cute... probably therein lies the problem... haha!

thanks for the support guys

Don't listen to other people. If people don't like it, who cares. I mean its not like you know them.
It is good I guess now at least gay guys will that you're gay.

Hmm well to clarify, nobody who said this was saying it negatively.

I seem to have settled on the fact that "it can only be good since then I will attract the right kind of attention."

Now that I have the bait set.... just need a bite

I'm sorry, but how do you look gay? you can dress camp, which in this world isn't a give away anymore, but most people just dress for comfort, or style, everyones different and I cant think how someone can dress gay because I dont know any homosexual or bisexual people that dress the same way or in a way that stereotypically fits into how I think they should dress.... If that makes sense to you guys.

i think people can tell cause of the way I dress ... but it's more indicative of straight men than gay men frankly. If I was in Europe no one would be able to tell I think....though I haven't tested it out lately heh. I wear fitted jeans and "tight" shirts....so people assume I'm gay of course. Straight men wear more baggy clothes, etc. On the days though when put on a sweatshirt and a pair of my old jeans though....no one can tell.

oh show us your new style ;) I need just 10 seconds to figure out if you will give away yourself ;) I have never been wrong so far

Since I'm in the closet, most of my friends call me "metro" as in metrosexual:

"...an urban male of any sexual orientation who has a strong aesthetic sense and spends a great deal of time and money on his appearance and lifestyle..."

"...A man (esp. a heterosexual man) whose lifestyle, spending habits and concern for personal appearance are likened to those considered typical of a fashionable, urban, homosexual man..."

(From wiki)

So around my area, how you dress doesn't mean anything, because now its socially acceptable as a guy to dress nicely and care about appearance, and no one is called gay becuase of it (Even though I am lol)

Sometimes, if a guy exudes a subtle sexiness, he will be described as gay. Maybe that is what these people are attributing to you.

Your facial expressions I believe can make you look queer.

I've seen some rather suggestive smiles in my time. ;)

Haha if "subtle sexiness" is equates to "awkward quirkyness."

Also my mannerism's might be the give away... I tend to stand with my legs pointed together... partly because I was slightly pigeon toed as a baby and the doctor said I would grow out of it..... I did, but when I'm not thinking about it my leg just turns inward...

Just stop wearing those chapless pants and feather boas, and everything will be all right.

(Just kidding. I really have nothing productive to say about this thread...sorry.)

In my mind, there are two types of "looking gay":

There's the good one, where you are well-dressed, sleek, and confident. There is also a quality about you that tells other gay men you're on their team. ;D

Then there's the other gay one where they act OMGTOOFAB4UUU! and wear ridiculous outfits and talk LIKE GURLFREND NAH-UH.

Hopefully you aren't the second one. lawlz

Being gay is generic.
Be who you are. There is no need for acting.
There is no need to try to be something different.

When I came out of the closet 18 years ago,
I was who I was, I was already gay, I did not look
a particular way, although I am told I am masculine looking.
I have not changed in any way my appearance. I am as
I was before all this time since then.

Be yourself, and remain true to yourself.
If people know you are gay, you do not need
to adopt a new gay appearance.
Be you.
