Look what I found! Thrift store finds

I am currently in Oklahoma City. Yesterday I went to the Memorial, Penn Square Mall...and the Goodwill thrift shop.

I especially like buying cheap t-shirts with a regional connection when I travel. Goodwill came through with a bundle of 12 for $5...plus I bought a few extras @ 99c. And Wrangler jeans in MY SIZE for $6.

I can't figure out how to attach pictures using Android or I'd show you some of my array. But I got quite a lot for under $20.

I got this for $2. I could tell it was fairly old. I hated to see someone's work sitting unloved in a thrift shop. I was surprised when I took it to work to show the secretary that the VP of the company recognized it. He said his brother (who is a fairly well known artist, that paints hunting scenes that features retrievers) made them back in the 40's to pay for college. He would sell ones with farms and for a little extra money he'd put the family name on the barn roof.

I think I paid less that $10 for this.

This was $4

Not a lot of people appreciate kitsch anymore...I do. Those fox dishes are a-friggin-dorable!

Looks like 1940s Duncan Phyfe Style Mahogany Drop Leaf Table with pedestal base.

I can't believe I found it at a thrift store. These look identical but mine opens up with an extra stored leaf.

^I'm not familiar with ebay, but isn't that just the 'asking price'?

If it is, you'll have to wait to see if someone buys it, and what they actually pay for the table.

Even then, I wouldn't consider that an accurate appraisal.

I agree. I'm not planning on selling mine.

I think it is an excellent table, and I'm glad you found it and like it.

I like old mechanical furniture with hidden/stashed pieces.

I am particularly fond of real wood. Though, most are not, these days. They don't know how to care for it, and don't have the time and/or ambition to do so anyway.

For anyone who doesn't know;
The stain used on a lot of older stuff 'bleeds' easily, and can leave spots on the flooring if the legs get even the slightest bit wet. Also, the legs often have small metal 'feet' on the underside that may have become rusty and/or rough. Also, those little metal buttons are often too small for the weight of the piece and will leave indentations on modern floors. You'll want to be sure to protect your flooring

Never use any oils or liquids to get the sliding/hinged mechanics 'unstuck'. That will likely swell the wood and make the problem much worse. Don't use bee's wax, either, as that will 'gum' things up. Paraffin or cornstarch/baby powder does work well, though. Always keep those parts clean and dry.

Very cool! I'm heading to the new Goodwill next weekend that opened near my apartment. :)

All my wooden furniture is second hand, bought cheaply and then repaired and painted by a professional. It managed to pull together loads of different styles but must admit the professional cost a fortune.

90% of my furniture is 50 years old or better.

There are a couple of JUBbers that have seen the garage; it's full of more. It is unlikely I will ever see a vehicle in it ever again. :(

I do not need anything else.

Someday I will get all new junk. Or never. :D

My thrift store find. An antique wood drop leaf table, extendable with an extra leaf. It has metal claw feet and a 6 inch diameter turned base. I paid a whopping $16.16 for it!
It has one chip and a few scratches but nothing that can't be easily repaired. It doesn't even have any water rings on it. I have a small walk thru kitchen, no dining room. The only place for a table is against the wall, so this table is just perfect for me!

I would have bought an old 4 poster bed they had but I didn't have any way of getting it home.

I find great things at Volunteers of America all the time.

Have you guys found any great deals?

Agreed, it is a Duncan Phyfe table, I have a similar one. What a find!!! Good for you!

Earlier today I was at Sears looking for a new coffee and end table set for my new house. I found a decent one but I just couldn't pay the $899 price for cheap pressed wood crap, and a nice solid wood set would cost about $3000. So I had to stop off at Salvation Army to donate some stuff and I took a quick turn around the store. Low and behold, I found a beautiful set, two end tables at $30 each and the coffee table at $40. I nearly peed my pants. Then the sales lady said if I tool them tonight she'd do $75 for all three pieces. Woo hoo!! I took em. And when I got up to the counter she gave me a coupon for another $10 off.

Literally, this was me...

I lucked out again and found a great new stove at The Re Store. It has all the bells and whistles, was barely used and was only $249. If only I could figure out how to attach a pic. on this dumb phone.

I see why they got rid of it.

The design isn't very practical......all the pots would slide off.

It is a slide-in range. The only place they'd slide is onto the countertop. Fortunately, gravity keeps them in place just like on a stove with grates. Cool, huh?

LOL!! Thank you. I was just too tired to try to figure out why it got flipped.

Another great find at a house sale. $10!! And the thing is practically brand new.

All of my thrift store finds are available to buy online 😁 Which reminds me I have way too much crap to get posted on eBay.
