No fuck this. I can't do it. I'm already black, isn't that enough to have to deal with?
I can't do this right now.
Not to be harsh, but don't be such a big baby. All of us here are dealing with prejudice, ignorance, bigotry, and all sorts of other social evils every day. We aren't any different from you, and we've all been frustrated and hurt, we've all gotten tired of fighting and felt the need to throw in the towel and give up.
But this is the hand you were dealt: go ahead and play it. Folding is for wusses.
As for being black
and gay, while I am aware that it is frequently a bigger cross to bear than being white and gay (in America anyway),
piles of people do it
all the time and survive just fine. You can, too.
How do you deal with ignorant assholes? Ignore them or engage them as your conscience dictates; but do not give them power over you. Do not let them make you hate what you are... because letting them is
your choice, not theirs.
And to address
this moron's particular remarks, what "science" does he cite as having "proven" that homosexuality is created rather than inborn? The scientific community, though increasingly interested in this question, has yet to prove anything other than that it's something you can't change. When confronted with such an obviously idiotic statement, I usually challenge the person's sources. Where did he read this? What is the name of the publication? Is it a legitimate scientific journal or a religious storefront?
My other challenge to such persons is "how is it
any business of yours?" People spend a lot of time trying to justify their bigotry, when it would be a hell of a lot easier for them to just turn their backs and stop thinking about it altogether. What difference
does it make to him whether or not homosexuality is inborn or learned? He's not homosexual, and no homosexual asked his opinion, so it's none of his freakin' business.
So buck up, honey. You didn't choose this fight, it chose you; but your only choices are to stand and fight or lay down and get trampled on. You don't
get to just go home and forget about it... the fight will follow you wherever you go.
And remember this: you are not alone. We're all here fighting beside you.
