I'm looking for a tablet preferably under 120. I don't really want anything too fancy, really just a decent e reader with decent apps for youtube, pandora and facebook. Currently I'm looking at the Micro Cruz Velocity T301 but the reviews seem to be up and down.

Any suggestions? (I've already looked at the Kindle Fire and I'm really not too happy with it and I DO NOT want an ipad, I hate apple with a passion after several bad experiences. Just looking for a decent e reader with tablet capabilities)

What don't you like about the Kindle Fire? It's undoubtedly the best value tablet in the vicinity of your price range - Amazon are actually losing money by selling it to you.

I've actually had the Fire in my hand. I hate that I'm limited to Amazon features, and there's no room for expandable memory. I'm a tinkerer, I love to do as much as possible with what's given to me. I know the Cruz has a few rooted options and people are working all the time with custom firmware, whereas the Fire leaves very little room beyond improvement. Plus, my boyfriend already owns a Kindle and while I'm happy with the machine itself not much of a fan of Amazon.

I just did some research on the koby, it looks pretty good. Is it better than the cruz? The resistive touchscreen is a bit off putting. I know it runs angry birds (unlike the cruz) but how about pandora?

The problem is you will hardly be satisfied by the tablet you get if you want the amount of features that the iPad brings.

I was able get teh 99$ touchpad and I love the thing.

Important points are you want to make sure you have AT LEAST Android 2.3 and 1ghz processor.

I also have the Velocity Cruz, but the reader and its horrible..lol But it also cost only $99 Most at the cheaper price points have horrible cams. Right now any of the Asus and Toshiba's are great deals and awesome products. I'm assuming right away that you want to stay away from the ipad priced Samsung's and Motorola's..

Now if you wanted to go in a different direction and you wanted something very powerful, you could head on over to blackberry.com and purchase a 16gb Blackberry Playbook 7"

Its extremely fast, the screen is stunning and both cams are HD rear 1080 and front facing is 720. I mean you will seriosly be stunned how good HD video and pictures look on this screen. Its ultra responsive and its got solid hardware.

The only thing is the Playbook does not have a native email app so you will have to go to your email on the playbooks browser (that is until feb of 2012 when they release the update.)

I would say go to best buy or office depot and play with one and see how you like it. Its really really fast, and blackberry and google just entered into a partnership in which they will now start using the android market place on the Playbook. That's huge!

also if you go to blackberry .com and purchase, I have a discount code for a percentage off and free shipping..lol

16GB BlackBerry 7" PlayBook Tablet with WiFi for $189 + free shipping after applying coupon code 09OLTY12

I used it and it worked perfectly for me.

Thats an amazing deal for probably one of the best 7" ers around. other than the one in my pants..lol

But if you want to stick with android before you buy one of the coby's or velocity cruz's you have to make sure that they can use the full android store. The velocity cruz I have will ONLY use the Cruz Market. That's huge because i brought the damn thing to download the Logitech remote on to control my entertainment center.

Oh and anohter thing the battery life is horrible on my velocity cruz, it will last for about 4 or 5 hours. Thats horrible.

the playbook will last about 9 solid hours with serious intense play and will last a few days without every charging

The HP touchpad will last about 8hours as well

So summary if you want a cheaper pad make sure it has
Android 2.3 at least
1ghz processor
can access the actual Android market.

And yes to me the Amazon Fire and Nook Color Tablet are sorta useless, I mean not even a came to skype..wow

If i really had to recommend one i would do the
New! Asus - Tablet with 16GB Memory - Brown
•Android 3.0 Honeycomb
•10.1" WXGA IPS capacitive touch screen
•Wi-Fi
•16GB storage capacity

If you shop around you could find one for less than 299 im sure.

Honeycomb was made for tablets only.

OH and look at the coby's before you buy, you might be disappointed by the screen.

Thanks guys. I actually looked at the HP touchpad (I've got an HP laptop and I love it and I love their company and customer support) but since they discontinued them and went on sale for 99 I can't find anyone anywhere! At the moment I'm thinking about just saving the money for a bit longer, stick to the laptop and Iphone that's coming and eventually spring for an Ipad. I'll just let Apple have my soul :p

that's a good plan because like I said no matter what you may think you won't be satisfied with another tablet until you get an iPad...lol especially a cheap android tablet. right now you just want one so bad that your willing to settle..

if you save up 100 dollars a month until spring you should just be able to afford and iPad 3..hahaha j/k

then you'll be addicted to your tablet like I am.

good luck, and lets Skype once you get it... (*8*)

and don't be sad you want an apple now, it dominates the tablet market for a reason!

Wow. . .the Acer is beautiful! And I love the built in flash support for the ASUS. Thanks for bringing them to my attention Carlo! Still got my iphone on the way though. . . As for the tablets though I'll definitely look into these two more.
