I've been meaning lately to lose some weight and I really want some advice about some stuff. What is the best way to lose weight between these two? : Eat healthy but little or enough and healthy? I mean, I usually wake up in the morning, drink some milk (and eat nothing), then I have lunch (something healthy without bread etc.) and then for dinner just a salad. Despite the fact that every day i receive much less calories than i burn, i tend to be in the same weight. Would it help to eat fruit for example, what can i do? (working out is at the time being out of the question, but i'll start working out later around summer)

Any other ideas, personal experiences or info are welcome!

(If you may ask, my weight is not much more of what it should be, just want to lose some kilos)

I am still working on losing my weight.. but from what I know... eat some meat... a little for lunch and some for dinner.. and when i say meat i mean chicken fish turkey lean beef...

Lettuce salads aren't bad.......it's the dressing you have to watch !!!

i usually eat lettuce with carrot. there is no special dressing, i just put some lemon (which i know is healthy) and just a little bit oil.

I been losing weight i cut back on all Soda and drink a lot of water

For breakfast i eat a fruit cup and a apple

I have successfully lost about 30 pounds in the last year! I am not a fanatic but just wanted to look and feel better. Here are a few tips that have worked for us.

Watch those carbohydrates, read labels and find out the amount of carbs in everything you eat.

Watch your sugar intake, some of the things we eat are packed with sugar and sodium.

Watch your alcohol intake, is is packed with calories.

Eat more fruit and vegetables indeed but make sure you are eating the right type and some of them should not be eaten everyday.

Vary your intake of foods and liquids.

And most importantly, try to eat something every two hours or so, if you don't, your body simply stores everything you eventually eat as sugars and fat and you will not lose weight.

I have found that for me, the following is true:

1) Stick to goals that you can accomplish. yeah, it sounds nice to say i will run 5 miles every day, but i know that i won't. I would rather run 2 blocks every day than NOT run 5 miles!

2) Eating too little is not the solution for me. Better that i eat healthy food - even if it is more often than starve myself and then pig-out (that doesn't sound like your issue). If i am going to a party or other even that will have bad foods, i will pre-eat - an apple or soup or something so i am not starving.

3) Get lots of rest. My body mistakes being tired for being hungry. If i am really starving in the afternoon, better for me to take a short nap than to grab something to eat. Even 20 minutes will quell the hunger.

Why can't you exercise? If it is a time issue - i suggest that you do something - even 5 minutes a day. If it is a health issue, than do what you are told.

Thank you all for your helpful information! I guess I will have to eat a little bit more fruit.

Shainski, it is a matter of time that I can't exercise, but I will have much more time in summer, so it's ok! Thanks!

Oh, btw a very importan question: I don't drink soft drinks like cola etc. but sometimes I'd like to. Well the question is, does Cola Zero or Light (just a couple of days per week), which are low in calories (almost no cal.) create any problems with the healthy diet? Like make the fat stay intead of burn it or something? (i know that cola zero and light are unhealthy in general, but I'm just asking for the diet-fat thing)

Go vegan. I lost 10 pounds in the last six weeks or two months by doing so, and I feel great. I want to lose about ten more pounds (goal, 160). I'm not 100% vegan so it's not as brutal as it seems (e.g., I eat honey), but it works for me.

Despite the fact that every day i receive much less calories than i burn, i tend to be in the same weight.

That is scientifically impossible. My guess is that you are not aware of the hidden calories that you are taking in. Are you going out to eat when you are eating "healthy" foods? You'd be surprised at the calories that slip in with the preparation of that "healthy" food.

You say you're having a "salad." But a salad to one person can be a plate of lettuce and tomatoes with a pinch of oil and vinegar. Another person's "salad" can be loaded with high fat dressing and high fat everything else. A recent study of salads at restaurants, buffets, showed they can have as many calories as 800-1000 with all the fixings.

There are days when I think I barely ate anything but when I sat down and added up the foods and the estimated calories I have been shocked.

It is impossible to not lose weight if you're taking in fewer calories than you are burning off.

My bad. Walnuts are not high calorie. But I still would be wary of the dressing. If you're eating anything in a restaurant there are hidden calories. Almost always.

I almost never eat out in restaurants and if i do then i certainly do not eat healthy. I know fast food and restaurant food is like calories factory or something!

As I have already said above, my salad is some lettuce with carrot with very little salt and a pinch of oil and lemon. No special dressing, just what I've mentioned. I think this is healthy enough! And low in calories.

I know it's impossible not to lose weight if i take fewer calories than what i burn, but the thing is that I don't know, maybe I don't burn enough calories.

So, any idea about the COLA ZERO or LIGHT? About what I mentioned in my previous post?

I wish I knew. Maybe you're getting too much salt in your diet and the salt is retaining fluids? And fluid is making you heavier? I'm not sure. It sounds like you're very close to losing, if you can just up the exercise a little or cut down on food just a little more.

Garbage. One or two cans a week won't kill you, but if you are serious about your health (and weight), you should competely exclude them.
