  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Lou Reed dead at 71

....He had a style and sound that appealed to me.
Did he have SEX appeal too?

He had that very thick neck which reminds me of a footballer's neck. And he took lots of drugs which made you think you could seduce him easily? And he hung around with cock-suckers like Andy Warhol etc and he might just reciprocate if you sucked his too?

I guess you never listened to his music.

.
As stated by several other posters, his own music was less important than his influence on our culture - and the musical work of others.

Therefore, Mr. Reed did not have a direct influence on me. However, when I was working retail, the fact that I had the album Transformer in my possession provided evidence beyond a reasonable doubt that I was a fag. (It's a good thing I didn't have the Sweeney Todd album!)

RIP Lou Reed. You checked out way too soon. Thanks for all you did for the music world.

I have no icons. I think for myself.

I suppose that Bob Zimmerman Dylan is the next icon to go.

What you haven't addressed is your over the top assertion that your entire life was changed by you feeling personally short changed over having a few cents of your taxes support some festival. It is obvious that you bear this dead man an animus that is all out of proportion to the event....he may not be an icon to you, but he certainly seems to have triggered a splenetic episode.

Lou Reed has meant so much to me over the years, with near constant listening to VU tracks since I was about 14/5. While some of his solo stuff is questionable, I would say Lou helped to redefine what rock music was about in a way. He allowed the dirt and the grit of life explode over his tracks in a way few had done at that point, and massively laid the path for a lot of punk music to come. Music has lost a, controversial, shining light.

Here you go Pat
