hi
im a new mac user
i use my macbook for school work which means:
1) i exchange files with group mates who use windows os
2) we plug into the usb port of the lecturer's laptop to copy lectures/presentation which is often in powerpoint format

With that my concerns are:
1) will i be able to get infected being a mac user sharing files with windows os users?
2( if so, will this program be very useful to me?
3( if not, will i be able to use this program solely to scan disks/files that are incoming and not fully install the program as a 24/7 antiviral program?

thanks so much

1. No
2. Stay away from Nortons....nasty shite
3. Checkout other software if you must, but in general not necessary to have Virus software...EXCEPT...if you plan on installing Windoz w/bootcamp, parallels, or VMware...then you will need virus protection.

STOP! Do NOT install Norton on your mac. It is a huge steaming pile of shit.

You will be creating problems for yourself rather than solving them.

norton tends to be bloated and a system resource hog. you shouldn't need it on a mac anyway. i'd stay away from it. what the other guys said is pretty much correct.

Defo don't use it, not only is it shit but it will also impair the running of your mac and can lead to premature drive failure. I once asked in an Apple store why they sold it, they told me that they had never sold a copy and didn't recommend it but had to stock it for some reason they didn't understand. If Norton were any good the first thing it would get rid of would be itself!

The best bit of software Symantec make is called "Norton Removal Tool". Enough said.
