MAC Pro Quad problem

Are you using Little Snitch by any chance ?
Also try this old fix HD/Library/Updates and delete all in the folder, restart and try again

I don't know what the messages mean. I get this message:

bplist00Ô]AnonymousUUID_LastAttemptDate_LastSuccessfulDate^LastResultCode_$1A3323F5-E9B1-4321-9BCB-976BFB09A1D93A®Å›¿tUe1FU|…‡

But to be honest I don't think that they are meant to be read in TextEditor as they are a garbled mess.

Can you take your emac to a Genius Bar?

wiregas - i don't have anything called Little
Snitch

Keeland - I clean the caches i n the Safari preferences at least once a day, because the quad is so fast with 9 GIG RAM and dual processors that one can never tell the difference anyway. Should that cleaning do the job that Onyx does?

Andoriyu - by Genius Bar, do you mean a Mac Store? There is a Mac Store here in houston.

thanks guys again for everything. The eMac looking for updates still has nothing new to bring in, so nothing is behind being current so far on the Quad

i took the quad to the genius bar this morning. the LEAD genius looked at immediately and it worked perfectly. we agreed that was always the case or many times so. he said - well, we know the disk is OK, the softwarr is OK, it is humming like the monster it is. he knew the eMac and the quad are part of a networik. eMac has an aerolite wireless plugged in that is picked by by a belkin router. the lead genius said - ALL i can suggest is to hit the reset button on the belkin router. i did that after i hooked everyting back up - and VOILA - that blue bar flies across like it used to do with no hesitations.
so guys, nothing was messed up in the quad or its software at all. i am so appreciate of your suggestions and advice. i am making a note to hit that reset button should it happen in the future. thank you for all this wonderful help. i am not a tech person under any circumstances. Lalo knew so much more about the MACs than I - although I definitely see their superiority.

thanks much wwawwa, but the genius bar guy found nothing wrong in any of the software. what i needed to do was to reset the button on the belkin router . Then the software update bar flew from left to right with no problems at all
