You've seen those contact sheets with thumbnail-size screenshots for a video, right? They're created by a great Windows program called "Image Grabber II", which seems to be a piece of freeware written by one individual. Unfortunately, it a) doesn't seem to work with any of my Quicktime MOV files, and b) is only for Windows.

Does ANYONE know of a Mac program that does this? Just to clarify, I know how to manually take screenshots from videos. I also know how to use other programs to create contact sheets of images. What I'm looking for is a program that takes a video file (MOV, MPG, AVI, etc.) and, based on your settings, automatically creates a contact sheet of images grabbed from various points in the clip (so, for example, with a 15-minute clip where you've said you want 30 images, you'd get one from every 30 seconds).

Thanks!

Wow, I didn't even know there was anything that useful for any platform...and as I am a Mac man who needs to be able to do this, I'm looking forward to the answer!

Thanks, AJ, but the discussion on that page is from 2002-2003, and is about the ways to capture a single screenshot from a DVD. It's all outdated now.

I'm not sure why Image Grabber II didn't work for you (Google "image grabber II"--it's different from Image Grabber). It worked great when I tried it on my PC with an MPG file. The point is to capture tiny thumbnails from equal intervals throughout the movie, and assemble them automatically into one contact sheet. It doesn't capture the full-size screenshots like you have in your galleries.

The closest I've come to finding something is a Mac program called Movie to Thumbnail, which is $15 shareware that can make up to 20 thumbnail images automatically, and save them all in a folder. It doesn't make the contact sheet, and it's limited to 20 thumbnails or less.

Wascallywabbit, thanks for the info. But I can't find anything anywhere online about "jubjub" as Mac software, if that's what this is. I'm uncomfortable installing something with zero information about it. Can you say anything else? Did you write it yourself? Or can you tell me where you found it?

Thanks.

Sorry about that. I couldn't believe no one had made anything like that for the Mac, so I threw a little app together myself and named it after JUB (and Selma's pet iguana on the Simpsons - heh).

I can give you the source code if you want. It's pretty simple and completely harmless.

wow that's pretty cool :) i don't have a mac to test it, but basically those programs are quite simple so this can be done quite quick.
first program written for jub, yay :D thanks a lot :)

IT'S AMAZINGLY COOL! Wascally, your program ROCKS! I can't believe you just threw it together. It does exactly what I wanted. It works with everything that Quicktime loads, it's Universal so it's Intel-ready, it's customizable...Thank you SO MUCH!

You should definitely put this up on Versiontracker or MacUpdate so others can benefit from it. And you should give it a cute icon, too :-)

did anyone else happen to save this program that wascallywabbit was so kind to share? my hard drive crashed and I had to install a new one. this happened to be one program that I didn't save before the crash and I didn't realize how much I actually used it.

I just found this thread and would like a copy of this also thanks

Here's the source, if anyone wants it. You can build it yourself with the free developer tools.
