Actress Emily Perry, who played Dame Edna Everage's sidekick Madge Allsopp, has died at the age of 100.

The performer, who played the taciturn and long-suffering bridesmaid for several years, was 80 when she first took on the role in 1987.

She appeared on Dame Edna's ITV star-studded shows and travelled the world as part of comic Barry Humphries' stage spectaculars.

Perry lived at Brinsworth House, a retirement home for entertainers.

She always played the straight-role against Dame Edna and provided a point for her to lampoon excellently.

I've rarely seen Dame Edna, and I've never seen Madge, but I love her deadpan comedy in the sketch above. Barker's Beauties ain't got nothin' on Madge!

Just spent the last half hour watching some Dame Edna's clips ---Madge was a hoot.

If you ever get to see the show live, it's worth ever penny--

that is so sad.... we saw the show when they were on nyc's broadway a few years ago, it was the funiest thing i've ever seen.

Sorry to hear of her passing. Just looking at her always made me smile.
Can you imagine living the hundred years she lived?.
Both World Wars, the Great Depression and witnessing the technological advancement must have been quite an experience.
