Madonna or Whitney Houston.

The majority of Whitney's music is bland and boring.... give me Madonna any day.

Whitney hasn't had a hit since the 80s? You can't GO to a gay club without hearing "It's Not Right But It's Okay." Plus, her biggest hit "I Will Always Love You" came well after she became involved with Bobby Brown.

Anyway, I'll go with Janet Jackson. lol

I don't know what clubs you've been hanging out in but "it's not right but it's okay" was a shite song when realeased. Playing it now without the slightest hint of irony would clear most of the gay clubs I know. Whereas, play ANY Madonna track, whether it be from the start of her career to the present day you'll find the dancefloors filling up. Since that dire song "I will always love you", which accompanied that even worse film the bodygaurd, I can't think of any other Whitney Houston songs that made an impact off the top of my head. I beleve she turned to crack because she realised how useless it was trying emulate the success of Madonna, Mariah and even Britney and Christina these days.

I had the privilege of hearing Whitney's version and her voice is in top form.

Really her voice is back?

Because i heard her on the Daddys Little Girl soundrack and :( i don't want to say horrible because Whitneys my girl but it was no where near the Whitney i knew. Infact it was very hard to listen to. I was just there in the movie theater wondering where is Whitney. That was a few months ago so we'll see what the album sounds like.

Clive Davis is taking a long time with this comeback album so you can be sure that every track will be good no fillers, maybe even Album of the year at the Grammys.

Whitney obviously has a great voice but that's about where it ends.

Madonna is a better 'entertainer', IMO. She's smart, provocative and talented. She has had a MUCH greater impact on world culture. How many young girls did you see in the 80s running around dressing and acting like Whitney? ZERO.

How many Madonna-wannabes were there? Many, many thousands of them.

In an interview Whitney gave back in the late 80s, the interviewer asked Whitney what she thought of Madonna (since the two were sort of rivals at the time). Whitney criticized Madonna's voice and arrogantly said that Madonna's career wouldn't last because of it. How ironic.

Thats exactley how i feel.

Whitney has too many ballads, Madonnas music is way more fun to listen to than whitneys.

Of course Madonna fills dancefloors, but that doesn't negate the fact that INRBIO is one of the most successful dance singles ever. And you can't think of any other WH song that made an impact? Try "Saving All My Love for You" "How Will I Know" "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)" and especially "Greatest Love of All." Don't get me wrong, I love Madonna too.

Plus, your theory of why she started "smoking crack" is flawed, since she was still quite successful around the time she began abusing drugs.

I'm a big fan of vocalists, so obviously Whitney takes the cake here. Although she hasn't been worth a damn in YEARS. One of the biggest wastes of talent I've ever seen. I hope she can pull herself out of it, because her voice has been shot to hell for years. Divorcing Bobby (which actually is final today) was the first and best decision she could have made. Nobody could touch her in her prime.

I've never been a fan of Madonna as a whole, however she does have some killer songs. Not much of a singer, but much more pleasant than a lot of people, so I give her credit.

I was a teen in the 1980's when Madonna was the No. 1 female singer of the decade (and Whitney, No. 2).

I actually remember, circa 1989, Whitney saying she admired Madonna and wanted to be able to do both movies and albums as Madonna had done.

OMG Madonna by far. For a woman who had her pics plastered all over Playboy and just shrugged itt off, more power to her. For a woman who breaks so many boundries musically and visually, more power to her. For a woman who can publish naked and provocative images of herself and can still come out 2 years afterwards with an amazing album, more power to her. For a woman who tours the world over and more, more power to her. And for one who dosent let her fans wait 10 years for a new album, more power to her. Madonna you are my light and these last 10 years have been amazing!

Madonna as well has influenced the gay population to be open about their lives and to not be ashamed. She as well promotes safe sex, poverty in Africa, which I am personally very fond of, as I donate on a regular basis. Yes Madonna may not have the best singing voice in the world, but thats the best part. She has proven that wanting to be a dancer for the rest of her life and then turning to music, everyone loved it. She is not a Whitney, Christina, Beyonce with the power vocals, I love her just the way she is!

amount of hits dont matter, i havent likes madonna as much as i like her now. not accepted by us radio, not as popular.....lovin it!

Well, I like a lot of songs by both of them but if I counted them all out, I like more of Madonna's songs than Whitney's. However, I prefer Whitney to Madonna. I tend to go for the singers with the big voices and honestly there aren't many that you can compare to Whitney Houston.

I had the privilege of hearing Whitney's version and her voice is in top form. I do hope they have more stuff for her that's not so saccharine though. And I really hope they leave She-Yo's track off of it. Blech.
Why'd you do that? You can't just say you heard a new Whitney track and talk about her voice without more information - there are Whitney fan's like myself lurking...

Naturally Madonna is most better that Houston!!

Madonna is our queen!!

Whitney Houston was(is?) a far better vocalist than Madonna. It's not even close. Madonna has sold more albums and had more of a cultural impact.

Crack whore vs whore. You make the call.
