Maine Gay Marriage Law Now In Hands Of Voters

The following was posted in the comment section of a Portland newspaper article. Assuming this is true, it's great news!

Secretary of State, at the last weekly update, said:

*79,480 absentee ballots have been requested
*53,493 have been returned
___

of those 53,493, 61.3% were on our list of people who had pledged to vote No on 1.

It will be a glorious day indeed, a *true* victory for our brethren if "No on 1" is victorious.

My Dad's side of the family is primarily from Maine, and I've spent quite a lot of time up there. To say the local folks are of a, um, 'stubborn mindset' would be putting it lightly. The phrase, "You can't teach them anything new" comes up quite often.

They like things the way they have always been. Period. So, if gay marriage is legalized once and for all in a state as 'set in their ways' as Maine is, I think it bodes well for other states across the nation.

Where in Maine does your dad live (specifically the county)?
