Micheal Okeaten, I think tahs his last name.Harry Hamiton and Kate Jackson starr as Micheal charater plays a married man who thinks that he's gay,to findout he goes to Harry Hamiton character to see if he is so they make out. Kate Jackson as the wife of Micheals who finds out and throughs a fit, gets angry when he told her that he is gay. But,finds how to deal with it. This movie opend up in 1980 or 1982, when AIDS was getting known to the gay communtiy. It deals wwith how the man deals with the emotional side of being gay while he's married. Great storyline for the 80's. A classic. It was on Cinamax last night.

no doubt. i remember watching this a bit ago on cable. So i went on amazon and bought the DVD still great. It turned out different then i thought it was going to the first time i watched the movie.

My best friend and I went to see it the day it opened. I was so nervous, I thought that everyone in the whole city could tell that we were going to see the "gay movie. There were only about 30 people in the theatre so everyone was taking a good look at who else was there. I was mortified and couldn't wait for the lights to go down.

I was so disappointed at the time because the film made gay life see so sad. Things haven't really changed all that much in mainstream films, have they?

I've never seen it, but it's a big part of The Celluloid Closet, so...I think I might have to ;)

Before I really knew what "gay" was (it wasn't something that was talked about much when the movie first came out) I remember seeing this movie and being fascinated by the fact that two men were sleeping together and were in fact in love. I had no problem with it. It didn't seem to bother me at all.

Of course, now I look back and think that I was hot for both Harry and Michael.

I rented the movie when it first came out on tape (long before DVD's). I saw a Siskel and Ebert review, back then they were on PBS, about the movie before I saw it. Seems that was the first mainstream studio movie where two men kissed on camera.
Yeah, it was a very sad, but from my experience at that time the story rang true. Seems that gay guys back in the 80's were just into having fun and sex, not too many looking for LTR. At least that is how I saw it, and since I was pretty young back then that is how I looked at it too. I think it is still a good movie, I like to watch it from time to time.
The point where Zack and Bart split up is still pretty sad. Zack is looking for a partner, Bart just wants to have as many guys as possible.
Thanks for the memory here friend. :-)

Just got the chance to see it a few months ago. Glad that I had the chance to watch the movie that people still talk about. : )

Classic Gay cinema. I't was the "Brokeback Mountain" of it's time.

I agree. For all it's faults, it was a forerunner.

For me, it was more hopeful than sad.

Unlike Brokeback, the lead characters got what they wanted - just not from each other.
