Watching all these clips brings up a number of questions as to how these dance competitions work, and I freely confess that this is a world of which I'm totally ignorant. At the beginning of the dance, it looks like a number is drawn to determine who the contestant is to dance with. But these dances are so elaborate and complex that I would think they would have to be chorographed, and endless practice would have to be put in to make sure they get it right, and to get a sense of what dancing with their partner is like, etc. Can you really dance like that with a partner with whom you have never rehearsed, or is there something I am missing here?

The wonders of human creativity, if a 96-piece jazz band improvise with instruments, can't two human beings (both of whom are probably seasoned vets at their craft) do the same with their bodies?
