Re: Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. First Image.

why does she never appear in films/scenes with other a-list actresses....i think she is paranoid and over-rated yet still extremely talented

Re: Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. First Image.

They might have gone a bit overboard with the eyes. They might distract from her performance a bit. I'm a little worried because the director is a special effects wiz rather than a director (this is his first directing job) but hopefully he does alright.

It's got a pretty good cast though and I'm intrigued by the concept so I'm still looking forward to it.

Re: Angelina Jolie as Maleficent. First Image.

Angelina better bring the evil out. I expect nothing less from Malificent.

^she's still so hot, I'd do her, even in in that get up.

I can't say I actually loved it, but it wasn't bad either. Oh and don't see it in 3D, the post conversion job is pretty bad and pointless.

She's pure evil.
I wanted to see this so bad, from the moment I learned about this movie a few years ago.
But apparently (according to IMDB reviews) they actually de-villained her, and made the king the Bastard.
I'm sure it looks gorgeous, but that's nothing special these days.
I am fed up with all these "explanation" stories and turning Pure Evil in cool bad-ass antiheroes.
The most interesting aspect about these iconic villains is that they are evil just because.

I have reservations about it. The film looks beautiful and Jolie is always amazing, but it was written by Linda Woolverton whose rehash of Alice in Wonderland was such a travesty.

It annoys me when the villain is redeemed in some way she is Disneys greatest evil villain.

I think if done right, it can be really good - Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, for example but I just don't think Disney could ever be that edgy.

Box office report: 'Maleficent' reigns with $70 million

(EW.com) -- "Maleficent" managed to enchant audiences and take flight opening weekend while Seth MacFarlane's sophomore effort, "A Million Ways to Die in the West," stumbled out of the gates.

Disney's gothic fantasy, a PG-rated re-imagining of the classic Sleeping Beauty villain starring Angelina Jolie in the titular role, netted an estimated $70 million from 3,948 locations — $6.7 million of which was from the 347 IMAX screens. Boasting an A Cinema Score, the $180 million pic also brought in $100.6 million internationally from 47 territories (40 percent ahead of "Oz: The Great and Powerful"), bringing its global cume to a mighty $170.6 million. It opens in China on June 20 and in Japan on July 4.

"We're feeling great," Dave Hollis, Disney's distribution head told EW. "We came into the weekend thinking that we were going to do somewhere around $60 million and to end up with $70 million is a really encouraging start."

As far as "Maleficent's" demographics go, 60 percent of audiences were female, 45 percent families, and 18 percent teens.

I loved it. Not a fanatic of Jolie, but when she is good, she is great. The movie was pretty much her, basically.

I loved it and I'm dying to see it again as I missed the first 5-10 minutes. It was a very slow movie and the plot was pretty much predictable, but seeing another side of Maleficent was nice for a change. Angie did a superb job. Off topic, but I'd love to see Ursula of the Little Mermaid get her own biopic too lol.

I was joking with my sis about that too.

I liked it very much. Minus the three good fairies.

Lana Del Rey - Once Upon A Dream (From Maleficent/Audio Only)

I thought it was good and it looked great. Thought Angelina Jolie looked the part when I first saw her in it and she pulled it off wonderfully.

I just got back from it. It's sort of cool and camp, I'm not sure why I didn't love it even more. Elle was a fantastic aurora and Angelina was a breathtaking maleficent. Can't wait to see the cosplayers try her look.

The prince was pretty hot too
