"Man Cave" -- a new JUB forum for masculine gay men

Oh! I want a shot at talking about something masculine! How about one of my heros, Rosey Grier? Big football player from the '50s and '60s, played for the Rams and Giants. Part of the "Fearsome Foursome". That's pretty masculine, right? Wait... he also did needlepoint and macrame. Fuck, that's fem, right? But that's ok, cause he was an actor, more masc points! But then he sang a children's song called "It's Alright to Cry". Crying isn't very manly... Well there goes posting something masculine.

Why do things need to be separated like this? Is it so taboo to talk about Lady Gaga and how much fun it would be to grill her meat dress? I mean, come on, even Chuck Norris wore make-up. Does he belong in the fem category now?

Lord, glad to see this place hasn't changed any. Ignoring ridiculous irony of the OP suggesting this forum, good luck. The sports forum is already pretty much a graveyard, I'm sports obsessed but I've never been able to keep up any sort of decent conversation in there so what good is adding to it going to do? And throwing "man cave for masculine gays" in there was just an obvious flame attempt.

And so far as I can tell, if any member wants to talk about a subject and there isn't a thread about it they are allowed to.... create one! Why don't we just do that? ..|

I'm pretty masculine. I talk about masculine stuff pretty often here. And nobody seems interested in holding ME down, or bitching that I'm not conforming to what they think I should be. Maybe because I don't see the need to draw sone sort of line between me and "those other gays"?

Hey i can be popular if I bash the idea tooo YAY

Passive aggression isn't usually what I think of when I see that you've posted, but lately you've been wearing that hat with pride.

So allow me to explain - the idea of having a separate section to talk about MAN things is just about as demoralizing as having a separate section to talk about all things Pride. There are sections that are par for the course for forums - introductions(though despite what members may have you believe, the introduction section is NOT Show Yourself Off), entertainment(music/reading/movies), art(which we don't actually have here), fun and games, politics, sports, and tech support. Then we've got religion, self-made porn(show yourself off and sometimes the daddy/bear section), studio porn, fetishes, gossip, and more. Then we've got something for those that passed on, something for those that paid 30$ to not have ads, ask the mods, a HEALTH section... and so on.

And then we have Hot Topics, which, to the best of my knowledge, was supposed to be inclusive of not just the headlines and not just the flora, fauna and manure that grows it as it were, but also of what YOU want to talk about as well. What's to stop people about talking about cars and fishing and trips and exercise, fixing up your home, building something from scratch and things of that nature? Why do we need a separate section for EVERYTHING and why do these things need some sort of coded criteria to "fit in"?

I'm as much against this as I am about a separate fashion forum, only I feel the latter to be less insulting in design and presentation. Maybe if JQ didn't go around making a fool of himself, swimming in the motherload of stereotypes and spitting them out and then abstractly playing the disliked martyr when called on it, this idea might be a good idea despite the fact that I feel it to be clutter. But I just know that if I ever feel the need to talk about something that has to be coated in my "masculinity", I could and very well would do so here first.

Creating subforums only works when there's a plethora of threads talking about the chosen topic of the forum in the first place. There aren't many people discussing cars/the outdoors etc, thus no interest, therefore no need for a separate forum.

Plenty of places to go online if you're wanting to talk with others about these things, they're just not popular enough here to warrant their own section.

I have spoken!!!

I'm going to stick with my original hypothesis. It's like setting up a section for guys with 9"+ cocks. The point isn't that these guys can't discuss this elsewhere. It's that you now know who's in this group. :)

How exactly would you keep all the other men out?

Or would you confuse them with masculine jargon?

The first thing that a lot of gay guys do when another gay man tries to assert his masculinity is call him a "queen"..

I'm guessing that irony just kind of ... sort of ... like passes you by? If the tiara fits, and all that ...

Since you started the thread, perhaps you could help it along -- or help it to its much-deserved mercy-killing -- by explaining how any of the topics you've selected as subject matter for this desired forum have anything to do with masculinity, rather than a more than slightly skewed personal perception of masculinity?

OTOH, if the problem is simply that you've noticed a lack in your life of those things you listed in your opening post, maybe you could consider spending more time hanging out with lesbians.

After all those rareboy's threads I have realized that I'm indeed a flamboyant homo :)

Wear a plaid shirt, keep the beard and you can sneak in to see what the manly men are talking about in the manly men threads.

;)
