Indochinese tiger

Interesting to learn that there are only 3,000-4,000 tigers left in the world. :(

Most of those are Bengal or Indochinese.

There are only a few hundred Malayan, Sumatran, Siberian and South China ones left.

The WWF website is interesting - as well as tigers, you can find out about pandas, polar bears, rhinos, gorillas, and other species that are in danger of losing their habitat to loggers and poachers.

It's very sad that there are so few of these majestic creatures left. The world has lost, and is losing, unique species at an alarming rate. I stumbled upon this poor fellow (Lonesome George) about a year ago.

How terrible must it be to be the last of your species? Very sad.

One of only many tragedies we'll face this century.

Alas, tigers. Such beautiful partners you were.....

Paleoarchaeologists say there have been events such as mass extinction in Earth's history. Those were probably brought on by natural disasters, but the rate of disappearance of species within our human evolutionary scale makes it immediate in geological time. The tragedy being we're the cause rather than it being natural. If this global warming fear does materialise in a world unable to support Man, expect a dramatic population crash later this century.

WRT the tiger being the last in China, that is very sad indeed. But, since the animals themselves don't respect national boundaries, and they can be found in neighbouring countries, it'll just be a matter of time before another one strays into China. Hopefully it won't get eaten or killed...

So just buy/steal one from somewhere else. If they have them in China I guess they have them in Indo. Indo? I think that means India.

If they are all nearly dead why don't they build them a nice house/forest/whatever they live in and give them loads of food and stuff then there will be lots of them to eat :)

When are they going to just clone these animals?

I'm sure that would help :D
