Hello all! Just joined and I have a problem I hope someone on here can help me with. I must admit that one of my guiltiest pleasures when bored and horny has become manroulette.com and it does so much more for me these days than regular old gay porn. I'm also a college student living in an on-campus apartment for the summer. So, for some reason on this school's internet I can access all the gay porn I could ever dream of but whenever I go to manroulette it never connects or gets past the "Entering..." message at the top, even though my video clearly works. Another weird thing about this is that chatroulette works on this internet, but that's really only since they updated it with the new, shitty design. So if anyone with more computer know-how than I could help me access manroulette (and not by doing anything to get in trouble and get caught) I would be most appreciative. Thanks =)

It sounds like the school network may be blocking manroulette.

No, I don't know why they would allow free access to porn generally and block manroulette, but life doesn't always make sense.

First, do a little experiment to see if you are being blocked Find a free proxy service. (Just google "proxies" and try a few of the thousands of sites that pop up. Follow the instructions on the proxy site to navigate to manroulette through the proxy.)

Then, let us know if you can get to manroulette through the proxy server. If you succeed in getting through to the site with the proxy, then your access is being blocked by someone (probably the school network). If you cannot get through with the proxy, then there is something else wrong which we can discuss.

This is just an experiment. Normally, the proxy might be all you need to get around a block to a restricted site. But, manroulette is a video streaming site. That means that it chews up a lot of bandwidth. The free proxy services restrict the amount of bandwidth they will let you use, so the manroulette videos will play unacceptably poorly through the proxy, if at all.

We will discuss alternative solutions after you have determined if your school network is the source of the block.

Yeah I just tried it using a couple of proxies (as I have before) and it still didn't get me past the "Entering..." message :(

Evidently, this is a common problem with manroulette.

However, I just checked and it works fine for me (Firefox 4.0 on Ubuntu 11.04). So, it is not that the site is temporarily down. You're having some compatibility issue between the site and your browser.

Try a different browser (Firefox/IE/Chrome/Opera/Safari) and see if you can access the site with that.

UGGGGHH it's still not working!

I also think I forgot to mention that it's not *just* manroulette that won't connect me but omegle and facebuzz and everything else that's not chatroulette - and it shouldn't be my browser (I use Safari by the way) because this is no problem when I go home and use the wireless internet there

although I did just try Chrome, Firefox and Opera and nothing worked

Well, I just went to manroulette.com and it did the same thing to me that it's been doing to you, Tyler "Entering..."

Previously, it worked fine for me. Same computer, same browser, and same internet connection. I just reloaded the page and it was fine after that.

I don't know what's going on, but it appears to be a problem with the site itself.

I don't think it's because of flash, I have it too on my PC and I have the same problem... it might be because of your connection, I remember a friend of mine was unable to connect to those websites when he lived in an on-campus appartment. :(

Could be an error in the site's coding.

This is a complete shot in the dark but you could try clearing all of your cookies. I don't know how Safari works because i never used it but you probably go to preferences or settings, then there should be a tab that says something along the lines of "privacy" or "history". There you should find an option to clear or delete all cookies. You can also google "how to clear cookies from safari web browser" or something along those lines to get a more accurate how-to.

It could be a bad cookie that's causing a bug error in the site's coding. I would also make sure that you have cookies enabled when you go back to the site.

But like I said, this is just a shot in the dark.

And one other question. Do you have a firewall enabled on your computer? Again, I have never used a Mac (ick!) so I don't know if it has an something like that, but it's worth looking at.

Hope this helps : )
