I am incredibly hairy. Like, hair everywhere. Robin Williams-level amounts of hair. Very hairy arms (that just get hairier as you move up). Hairy back and chest. Hairy ass and legs. Even hair on my feet. I cannot emphasize this enough. I could rent space on my body to a small tribe that is used to living in dense rain forests. I've never trimmed or shaved any of it off, ever.

It's like I'm wearing a suit of hair. I'm in my 20s and don't really fit into the bear mold, so I would like to remove it. Maybe not all of it. But, I'd love some pointers on removal, what to keep and what to lose, how to remove it. Razor? Nair? Waxing? In the future, I think I'll invest in laser removal, but until I can afford it, what's the most efficient solution to this conundrum?

HELP ME PLEASE!

I Nair For Men my back and trim my chest. Lucky for me my arms and legs aren't that bad.

What type of climate do you live in? I can imagine, in some places, that much hair actually causing one to be uncomfortable during the summer months, but maybe working to your advantage in the winter.

Hair is a better insulator than a layer of clothing, I think.

Waxing.

Go for it.

The aestheticians are trained to ignore your screams.

7. Make peace with your body hair

Celebrating your body hair “doesn’t mean turning your back on manscaping,” Toronto-based fashion stylist Alon Freeman says. Rather, it means getting acquainted with what he calls your “hair aura.” “While naked in front of the mirror, turn to the side,” Freeman proposes. “If you see an extra inch or two of fuzz, you have a hair aura and need to do something about it.” This involves a good trimmer, preferably one that’s lightweight, rechargeable and comes with several guides for various cutting lengths. But don’t go too short, Freeman warns: “No one wants to share personal space with a prickly pear.”

TRY: Wahl Lithium Ion Trimmer, $49.99 at Canadian Tire.

I am almost the same way. I would love to get rid of the hair on my shoulders and back. I would do laser removal if I thought it would be permanent.

UPDATE!

Bought a trimmer. Don't know what to think that I put on one of the larger guides just to sort of play around, see how it works. I removed a carpet's worth of hair with the 14mm comb on. So, I still look very hairy, but I've removed a great deal of the mass. But I guess it was all a lot longer than I had expected because of my lifetime of neglect. I only wish I could have braided it just once while I had the chance.

I'm still an "otter" (?) as it were, but it's not aggressive.

Sounds like you've found a solution.

But once you start 'ManScaping' you've got to maintain it and make it a regular routine.

I quite like hairy. Just keep it trimmed a little bit?

Hair preference is highly variable and I suggest you suit yourself. I enjoy having hairy legs and forearms (and the top of my feet now that you mention it).

In my thirties the hair is creeping up my arms past the elbow which is annoying, and my chest is filling in more evenly, which I'm okay with. If I had a hairy back, I would have it waxed or lazered, and the upper arms along with it. Also I like a bit of bare skin between arm pits and chest hair. Also, even where I like having hair, a bit of maintenance is sometimes in order. I have a couple of pubes that were ridiculously long. I think pubes should top out at about 6 or 7 cm, and these were pushing 14.

Dunno. Check out a bunch of pix of hairy guys in amounts that you enjoy and then pick one as your guide.

If you wax (which is definitely the very best, longest lasting choice for at home), be sure to clip the hair a little shorter first. This is so that the wax doesn't drag on the excess hair and can easily penetrate to the skin. You will end up with far less hair remaining after the strips come off, meaning less clean up/touching up, because we always miss a few hairs. Maybe you won't have to wax everywhere. Sometimes using clippers first lets you see that in fact shaping is very effective.

I forget if you mentioned the colour of your hair. If it's darker, you could get pulse light work done on those regions (maybe like your back) that are harder to access by yourself. The regrowth is minimal and sometimes stops pretty much altogether. I can wax (and always have been able to) myself without any problem or pain. Be sure to go to a well reputed salon that is recommended by men for the first few times, though. This way you can watch and learn, and get the worst over under somebody else's hands.

I don't know what you look like, what you do for sport or where you live. I was a fitness instructor in my twenties, and there was a guy in classes who was pretty much how you described yourself. I swear, he could have braided his back hair! But, he found sweating impossibly annoying, and it never evaporated from him like from the rest of us. It was frustrating. When he finally went to a waxer, he was so relieved. And I have to say his access to partners increased, too. Yes, hirsute can be very appealing, but not to as many people as middle of the road hairy. Maybe try shedding the back and the top half of the arms and the sides of your body first, clipping the rest to a desired length. If you're happy with that, go no further. If you would like to do more, do it. If you regret it, this will not be too much of a change so as to offend you when you stand in front of the mirror.

Make yourself happy.

But never forget that lots of guys find body hair very sexy![/QUOTE]

God! So many hair fans... Now I'm full of regret for removing a standard poodle from my arms, legs, chest, back, ass, pubes and feet. And I'm still ridiculously hairy, by the way. I think I will look into waxing to separate areas from each other as opposed to "hair explosion."

You might have to go the waxing route until you can afford laser. That much hair is just uncomfortable and really does limit your dating options. Good luck!

NO!! KEEP IT ALL!!!

I agree with seghers and trim. Less painful. Plus, you just buy some clippers and go at it :)

Unfortunately/fortunately? hair grows back, so if you don't like the look, it'll obviously grow back :p
