Back to Creepy Old Fart
I've given up.
A cluttered life for me!
In the interest of full disclosure, it is now almost 3 years that we moved the majority of the contents of a 125-year old house (that was occupied by successive generations of the same family, so never 'cleaned out'), about 3000 square feet, nearly 1500 miles into a just under 1000 square foot house that was already full of 50 years of accumulated junk from my Grandparents. I sold the majority of Grandma's furniture, but The Partner is very slow in getting rid of his stuff.
We moved the stuff because there is NO market for old junk in Michigan--with the declining population the market is saturated. The market in Colorado is much better, and if The Partner would just call in someone we could probably clear 10K easily with the stuff that is in the garage.
The year after we filled the 26-foot Penske truck, we returned to Michigan and filled a 26 cubic yard dumpster with the crap we DIDN'T ship.
Anyone want to buy some stuff???? We've got a couple of bedroom sets, a 1908 reed organ, a bunch of 30's radios, a 1895 National sewing machine (works!), a couple of occasional tables (one of them has a top shaped like a clover and has glass ball and claw feet!), and I practically forget what else. Also got a box of wax Edison cylinders and the player (the clockwork mechanism is missing and the horn is still in Michigan). I sincerely doubt if I will ever see the floor of the garage again.
Someday, I will have a house with nothing but a week's worth of clothes in the closet and nothing else. Yipes.
