I stick to the theory of them being confused in their [sexual] identity. The homophobic remarks are a projection of their experience in their personal lives, and porn is the only way they can live out their fantasies (so far) while maintaining a "straight" life. On the Kinsey scale they're all somewhere between 2 and 3. Bisexuality doesn't require romantic feelings from both genders, it's all sexual attraction and/or curiosity.
