LMAO I cannot, Whitney had to literally force Mariah to sing when they performed "When You Believe" live twice....I was saying to myself....I'm actually seeing Mariah try to sing.....

lmao. no she didn't. if anything, whitney ruined the performance by being all late and out of breath trying to sing. but, I guess she had to snort that ONE last line before trying to sing...

If releasing an album every year was the cause of Mariah's voice to deteriorate then Aretha's voice should have been shot in 1966 before Respect came out. Back then they released two albums a year,toured,did TV appearances and so on. I really think some people's voices can handle hard singing better than others.

True, but schedules nowadays are a lot more rigorous than they were back then, also.

And when will people realize that it doesn't matter what is said, SexyKev will still think Whitney's coke-infested turds are God and it will NEVER be different from that? He's delusional and out of touch with the real world. He's probably just angry because Whitney didn't have the strength to stay off the drugs long enough to promote an album or even tour once.

I understand the point. However, DSB's style is different than Carey's and Whitney's. The structure of the latter two singers' songs required them to belt much more frequently than what was exhibited in this video. There were more vocal dynamics in terms of power/volume for Whitney/Mariah as opposed to DSB.

However, anyone without a bias knows that Mariah and Whitney had other issues which contributed to the deterioration of their voices. It's not just the singing style/vocal application.

Hmmm. Mariah and Celine....those two often and frequently lipsynch. Mariah moreso than Celine. But I wouldn't put either of them in the same league as Whitney, when it comes to "LIVE" singing (and performing; also when it comes to stage presence and charisma...but that's a whole 'nother story..)

They are real singers to a certain extent, Celine moreso than Mariah, but not quite in the same league..

Are you deaf? If Mariah isn't a real singer, i don't know who is. You need to listen to her performances of the 90s. And just because Mariah doesn't sing live all the time now doesn't mean all her earlier performances vanish from history. If you are talking about now, then Whitney should be considered in the same league as Rihanna with her sing talking.

But nearly her whole career has been built off lipsinging songs. She is not a "real" singer like whitney is. Whitney ACTUALLY REALLY SINGS LIVE....no matter if she sounds a mess or when she sounds good (which she has been sounding great lately!) mariah cant be considered a "real" singer with all the FAKING she does when she lipsings it...thats NOT real singing. atleast whitney still gives you her "real" current voice no matter if she sounds good that day or not. LOL. It's better than making her background singers sing the toughest parts, which Whitney seems to be doing quite frequently on her current tour. But I don't blame her; Whit has been sounding like crap since she her first stop. I'd much rather have her lipsync her songs than hear her croak through her catalogue like a woman dying from emphysema. I'm not a big fan of Mariah, but her voice today is millions and millions of miles ahead of Whitney's (even though that's not really saying much).

So basically as long as you sing a song completely live no matter how horrible it may sound you are considered a "real" singer? So i guess Miley Cyrus and Rihanna are better than Mariah too? And yes Mariah does lipsync a lot these days but that does not discredit everything she has already accomplished, she is obviously in amazing singer with great technique and versatility.

These were a few months ago... all completely live. If this isn't a "real singer" then i don't know what is.

Yup exactly....if you dont sing LIVE all the time or most of the time then you CANT be considered a flatout "real" singer. You are basically a fulltime primary lipsinger who occasionally sings live. And thats what mariah has turned into, unfortunately.

it is what it is. but everyone and their momma already knows mariah is good for hitting a stage and lipsinging her way through a song. then you have whitney on the other hand who people DON'T expect to see lipsinging much or at all. She doesnt have that reputation that Mariah has with live performing and lipsinging. Shewill hit the stage and sing LIVE no matter whether shes sounding a mess or whether shes in good voice. Thats where the difference of these two singers lies. One who sings live the majority of the time, and one who doesnt. One who has sang live most of her career, and the other who has lipsang more times than i can count the actual live performances she gave.

Mariah doesnt want to be seen giving alot of bad, hoarse and shot voiced performances. Thats why she lipsings and uses backing tracks most of the time cuz her voice is usually shot and she wants to give the impression her voice is still always on point when its not. Whitney on the other hand doesnt give a damn about the criticism and will give you her "REAL" voice no matter what, flaws and all. Thats the MAJOR difference between them two and what sets them apart.

They've booed her at every stop so far (and for good reason). She's sounded absolutely terrible at every venue.

People are attending her concerts in droves, shows are still selling out despite press and tabloids, people are having alot of fun and cheering their asses off and showing her lots and lots of overwhelming love. Yea i am more of a Mariah fan than a Whitney fan, as i can see you are a whitney fan. I don't defend her against everything, yeah she lipsyncs and i agree it's not right but you said she wasn't a "real singer", that is where i came to defend her. I would never say Whitney was not a real singer because she's just Whitney.. everyone knows she had an amazing voice, no matter how bad her voice may get she will always have her prime years that many singers dream of. Same thing with Mariah, you shouldn't discredit her for her current vocal stage.. you aren't her doctor you don't know what she is going through. Losing your voice can occur for many different reasons. It is obvious Mariah lost a lot of her because of her hectic schedule, flying back and forth, lack of sleep, thus leading to not warming up, etc. And if I were in her shoes I would do the same thing, she's just trying to keep her career going... this is the music industry, you can't just come and go like you please. I think Mariah is a very smart business woman, she's been around for over 20 years and is still a force to be reckoned with in the music charts.

ok well i can agree with that man. i am actually a fan of old mariah so its not like i dont like her. and yes they both have lost a great percentage of their voices and clarity but hey they are who they are and they are both legends and dont have anything left to prove to anyone anymore, no matter how they sound now.

So, I must be completely deaf then, if what you say is true. I went to her concert in Tampa in 2006 during her Adventures of Mimi Tour, and all but 2 songs were live out of 17 songs. And her voice still managed to sound good through the final song, We Belong Together. Whitney can barely make it through one song without her voice crapping out.

Nobody is denying Mariah lipsyncs more than she used to. And considering 99% of the performances from 1990 thru 2001 were live, you can't say she's NOT a REAL singer. Sometimes I'd RATHER her lipsync some songs, don't discredit her actual ability. And if she lipsyncs a high note at the end of a song, so? The rest was live. You people just hate to hate. I'd rather Mariah lipsync and sound good, then listen to Whitney butcher her own damn songs performance after performance. Whitney fans hate on Mariah so damn much, and its obvious that its because you cannot admit that Mariah MIGHT ACTUALLY SOUND BETTER LIVE. There's a concept. But you're so far in the closet about admitting it that you're finding Christmas presents.

Why would I pay for a concert where somebody lipsynchs? I could just as well go home and listen to the albums if that's the case. I'd also not pay for a Whitney concert these days, cause her voice is shot. Long story short? I wouldn't attend a Mariah concert or a Whitney concert, despite being big fans of both.
