Marriage Bill in Minnesota

Let's hope so.

I understand that massive amounts of Focus on the Family, NOM, etc. money has been gushing into this state to try to stop the inevitable. I hope their monies are so unsuccessful that their benefactors pull out, and they collapse under the weight of incredible debt.

Thank you, Minnesota. And also to Michelle Bachmann who proves just when you think she isn't capable of worse because she's scraped the bottom already so often, damn if she goes out and outdoes herself . Hopefully she'll keep her word and free the good people of Minnesota from her contamination and takes her freak show closeted homophobe hubby Marcus, too!

Apparently the Bachmann threat/promise was in a satire piece and not real.

Minnesota, Delaware and Rhode Island have handed the Supreme Court a pretty kettle of fish to deal with.

I believe the ruling was already made a few days after they heard the case. In any case,I think the court will rule the Prop 8 propenents don't have standing and thus will let the lower court ruling stand. I don't see them doing a 50 state sweep sad to say.
As for DOMA,it's going to be struck down 5-4 with Kennedy being the swing vote on basis of state's rights IMO.
One more note,if Illinois can pass gay marriage, that will make it 13 states with gay marriage and when that happens,Republicans can kiss the Federal Marriage Amendment goodbye.

Mark Dayton, thank you!

....by the way, I miss Dayton's. It was the only place I bought clothes.

Being present during passage in the House, Senate, and the signing by Dayton, I must say it was like nothing I've ever experienced before. I felt excited, tired and also kind of sad in a way, just because this in the end of the issue in our state (I've been a part of Minnesotans United for nearly 2 years mind you). It feels incredible to have really lived history.

Must have been an incredible feeling for you and your state. I felt the same way when New York did this two years ago.
But the work isn't finished. A lot of the DFL's put their careers on the line for this,I'd hate to see that be forgotten in all of this.

Of course we do have to ensure the DFLers get re-elected, but I meant the work is done in terms of us achieving the freedom to marry.

Indeed..I would keep the eyes and ears open. Already there are talks of lawsuits and repealing it,although I think that would be a really, really stupid move considering how badly they misjudged the reaction to putting the hate ballot up in the first place.
