Marriage Equality Matters to Everyone

This is such an important issue for so many gay people. For me, I have been forced to live outside of the US with my life partner for 10 years now -- and if he were a she -- we could have had a fiance visa in a matter of months.

Please send this information along to everyone you know. I have...

Not that I don't believe in freedom to marry but, why do gay people equate being denied the same rights as str8 married couples have to marriage? You have the same rights under the law in civil unions...no?

NO -- we don't. First off, there is no federally recognized gay marriage or civil union in the USA. Therefore, equal rights are not afforded to cross-national couples. Personally, I couldn't care less if they call it marriage or not -- but that begs the question -- WHY SHOULD IT MATTER? Equal respect under the law should be available to people of all ages, races, religions, sexual orientation or gender.

These people are stone cold fuck nuts, and it's sad that so many people are blindly enabling them.

This is certainly true of some people. However, does that mean we should just give up the fight?!

I believe the key to unlocking fear is education and awareness. Sure, there will always be the un-reachables -- but time has proven again and again that change can take place. I just hope I live long enough to see it.

The idea of two guys marrying just seems odd to me. I'm one of the few gay guys that are opposed to gay marriage I guess. I don't need a piece of paper and a title of "husband" to tell me that I love the person I am with. I've never liked the idea of getting married to a guy, and I really do not like the idea of gay marriage being legal.

Try saying that after you meet the guy of your dreams from another country and America tells you he is not welcome -- even to visit. While I can appreciate your feelings and your current situation, perhaps you need to think more globally and look beyond just today... You never know what your future may bring. Don't you want all the possibilities and rights there for you should you ever want them?
