Martial artists: attractive or not?

Some obese out-of-shape Australian lezzie with a gun is going to mow them all down, before they can even get to her.

Martial artists come in all sizes and shapes.

I am a big fan of the Hong Kong based Shaw Bros. film studios which produced several hundred kung fu movies during the 1960s and 1970s inspired by Chinese folk tales with the celebrated director, Chang Cheh selecting many attractive men to portray his heroes.

Chang Cheh was gay and ensured that his stars were appropriately costumed to reveal their most attractive assets. The Venoms series best expresses the soft porn element of his movies, that enabled Shaw Bros, and Golden Harvest to capitalise on the market for extreme violence, garnished with sexually attractive young men, and women. The martial arts actors were also great acrobats, dancers, and noted for their dedication to physical fitness.

Here's an example of one of the martial artists of that period demonstrating his skills:

My other half has, or had pipe dreams of being a MMA/UFC fighter which he better quickly step up on because he's only getting older and they only want younger guys for crap like that. He doesn't do much martial arts, but mostly contact fighting.

But anyways, one of our first dates was he took me to Huntington Beach and was teaching me self defense stuff and Judo and I thought it was cute.

I'm also a real big Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Van Damme fan and I like Karate Kid series.

But I don't have any black belts or anything, but I can defend myself and I know ground defense, and how to block blows that I know are coming better.

There are different types of martial artists, actors aside.

Some do embrace it philosophically. I don't have any feeling about them pro or con.

Others seem to adopt it as a sort of continuation of childhood with the notion of playfighting taking on adult dimensions which would be unappealing for those who do not venerate the whole life-is-a-battle culture.

And there are those who adopt it as a personal safety discipline. They do not appeal to me, but do not repel me either.

And finally there are those who simply follow martial arts as a fitness regime. To the degree that they border on gym rats, I don't enjoy their company.

Basically, an overemphasis on fitness as a mentality is not appealing. More interested in someone creative and sociable. To degree that a man can be both, all the better. Well rounded persona is the bomb.

For many martial artists there is a spiritual component to their dedication to living a healthy life. It should not go unnoticed that the Shaolin Temple, China features as a centre piece in many Kung fu movies, with Buddhist beliefs a foundation for the dedicated training regimes of martial artists.

I trained for many years in Wing chun as a discipline to tame my anxieties, and to fulfil my innermost need to develop meditation enabling me to cope more effectively with my daily challenges.

There's much more to martial arts training than self defence training might suggest. As a result of my training I have become totally non violent, and anti violence. To many this result arising from my training might appear to be contrary to the skills that I have developed. Here we return to the Buddhist principles of peacefulness, and serenity that martial arts training has enabled me to develop.

Here's a trailer from the 1976 version of Shaolin Temple

re archery, cf.: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial_arts#By_technical_focus

"Weapon-based
Those traditional martial arts which train armed combat often encompass a wide spectrum of melee weapons, including bladed weapons and polearms. Such traditions include eskrima, silat, kalaripayat, kobudo, and historical European martial arts, especially those of the German Renaissance. Many Chinese martial arts also feature weapons as part of their curriculum.

Sometimes, training with one specific weapon will be considered a style of martial arts in its own right, which is especially the case in Japanese martial arts with disciplines such as kenjutsu and kendo (sword), bojutsu (staff), and kyudo (archery). Similarly, modern Western martial arts and sports include modern fencing, stick-fighting systems like canne de combat or singlestick, and modern competitive archery."

I have actually been thinking of taking up Muay Thai, and have located a center that would be convenient.
One of the hottest guys in my Rugby Club has moved on to MMA, and one of the hottest guys at the Gold's Gym I work out at has been involved in kickboxing for years.
For me, it seems to be the natural route to follow to keep in close physical contact with other hot muscular in shape guys.

What's not to like?
With their flexibility and stamina, can you imagine what they would be like in bed?
Fireworks !!!

Yah, but there are a whole lot of butt ugly people who do martial arts. Their pictures aren't so adorable. Chuck Norris for example. Face like a horse. Horse with a beard and tasche.
Yeah, Chuckles Norris. What a jebus freak. He loves him some Huckabee.

There were, and are very many cute martial artists whose skills, are not less for being attractive.

Wisdom reveals itself in the philosophical advice that weaves its way through many martial arts disciplines:
