I don't think that King would be pleased, but I don't think that he would have supported a proposition to take away a legal right from any group either.

And if he would, then his legacy would be corrupt as well.

I also think that the premise of the original post is not accurate. The news isn't full of shreiking homos brandishing pitchforks and torches.

In the 1930's and in more recent history, the targeted populations that didn't protest not only lost their rights, but lost their lives. I say keep the volume turned way up. Let the world know how many homos there are out there and that they all can't be pushed back into the closet, while religious ignorant bigots of any race or affiliation develop the sense that they can control and oppress in accordance with their limited understanding of the very tenets of their religion.

Some people will take ANY chance to attack the gay community they can find. Lump them all together... call them names like "Spoiled Brats" and "Gucci-loving Queens" and shake a few fingers.

These rants aren't ever accompanied by any good constructive ideas... just a bunch of whining that the gays are making him look bad and WHAHHAAAA.

I don't believe most of the stories I'm hearing from the pro-8 fuckers... being egged... being threatened... I'm sure that someone's going to show up with a big B carved into their face.

But to coujnter, I'm rather disgusted by the people who just sit at home and cry about how the gay community is angry and having peaceful protests, refusing to sit down and politely order dinner at El Coyote or stop being so damn gay.

After the loss of Proposition 8, many members of the gay community have been acting like middle school bitches. There I said it.

Acts of violence. Harassment. Cursing. Destruction of public and private property. Road Rage. Hell even egg-throwing.

What would Martin Luther King Jr. say? He'd condemn our actions and shake his head in shame.

Do you how many anti-segregation propositions have been sent to court? Hundreds. Over the course of decades. Finally, under the pacifist teachings of Mr. King via peaceful protests segregation was annulled.

After Proposition 8 was passed, the gay community reacted like I knew a buncha of spoiled, Gucci-loving queens would: by throwing a tantrum.

Now the Mormons are enemies. Hell, by all rights apparently Latinos and Blacks are the enemy of the gay community.

How are we supposed to be taken seriously if we act like children. Men are all created equal. But men are not equal to children.

Martin Luther King's example has clearly been forgotten. And I'm ashamed of the gay community and their actions....

what i took out of the post is the inspiration to keep going. what i understood was that king would have been disappointed if we stopped now because it looks like we've lost. (which we're doing by being bitchy or acting out).

our noses got bloody from this punch; but the fight isn't over. king got his nose bloody; but he didn't give up, he just started fighting harder; and we should too.

we need to do some harder ass kicking.

I will say, in complete honesty, that I don't believe gays have won many fans over the past few weeks. Mormons either, of course. I imagine there are a lot of gays who aren't too proud of the way some members of our community have behaved lately. In many circumstances it's been downright embarrassing and will probably cause us the be viewed even more as outcasts by some.
For me a lot of what I've seen and heard has been invaluable in reminding me that the gay community can be just as insensitive, ignorant, selfish, and ridiculous as any other.

Well, just keep in mind, that we've never had that many fans to begin with.

The rest of your argument seems to based upon the presumption that we're "equal" within this debate, and we're not.

So it's a little fair, IMO, that we attempt to level the playing field.

If for no other reason to point out that we're not going to lay down and take this like a group of aggressors, when the aggression has been directed specifically toward us.
