i haerd this song for the first time last night on idol where she performed it flawlessly and i am now completely in love with the song. its now my fav martina song ever and one of my all time fav songs ever. its so uplifting and inspiring. if you wached idol, you heard it too. do you guys love it like me?

Yes! I loved her performance. I'm not familiar with her music but, I must admit, I loved it.

I think she is one of the best pop/country singers in the world but that song wasn't my favourite.

i can't stop listening to it. lost count on how many times i've played it. i gotta get it in my ipod.

"Anyway," although it only peaked at No. 5 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart two weeks ago, is a great song.

But 40-year-old McBride has had a lot better songs in the 14 years that she has been charting and you guys should check into her vast catalogue. Here's what I recommend you download from McBride who is the best caucasian vocalist on this planet!:

"My Baby Loves Me"
"Life #9"
"Safe In The Arms Of Love"
"Wild Angels"
"Valentine" [w/ Jim Brickman]
"A Broken Wing"
"Happy Girl"
"Wrong Again"
"Whatever You Say"
"I Love You"
"Love's The Only House"
"There You Are"
"When God-Fearin' Women Get The Blues"
"Blessed"
"Where Would You Be"
"Concrete Angel"
"This One's For The Girls"
"In My Daughter's Eyes"

By the way all eighteen of those songs were Top 10 hits!

Geez...I remember when she first came out...Oh, and how could you forget "Indpendence Day"? If you only listen to one song about an abusive husband and how his wife gets revenge this year...

RG

Yeah RobinGoodFellow, "Independance Day" is probably to McBride what "Material Girl" is to Madonna.

But radio didn't like the idea of a song with a socially conscious storyline with an even more controversial video being on their format so the song peaked out of the Top 10 (at No. 12) in 1993 :(

Even though Shawn Colvin's almost as marvelous "Sunny Came Home" was a huge top 10 pop hit fours year later and remains an AC staple.

Country programmers are major asses!

I saw you staring at each other, I saw your eyes begin to glow. And I could tell you once were lovers, you ain't hiding nothing that i dont know. You say it ended when he left you, you say your love for me is strong. But those old memories still upset you. Well I might be a memory before too long. There's an old flame burning in your eyes, that tears can't drown and makeup can't disguise. Well that old flame might not be stronger, but it's been burning longer, than any sparks I might have started in your eyes.

I went to see Martina's Christmas show this last winter. It was amazing with her singing all the spiritual Christmas songs. At the end she had the Warren Brothers who co-wrote this song with her accompany her while singing "Anyway" It was great, and now she is going to tour this summer with Little Big Town!!! Tickets went onsale today in OKC! Can't wait will be an awesome show!!!:=D:

your so lucky. i'd love to see her live. this is now replaced "keep holding on" as my new sad song. i have such a connection to it.

Hello boys,
Her performance of "Anyway" on American Idol is on you tube. I highly recomend it!

I never really followed country music so I wasn't really aware of here, but her Idol performance of Wednesday was flawless, she was absolutely amazing. she's definitely on my music radar now.

Heres her performance of "Anyway" on Idol.

i also love that song by her.

I went to see her in concert in Toronto about 14-15 years ago, she was amazing.

I hadn't heard it before, thanks to aidena88 for providing that link. For once it's not about angles. it's a running joke that her best songs have angles in them. ;) It was a good song, but it's not one of my favorites though. Concrete angles is one of my favorites and My baby loves me are probably my two favorites of her's.

It's a shame that a stupid show (although I am hooked at times) like 'American Idol' is the only thing to introduce incredibly talented giants like McBride to the rest of the planet. Hmmm.

Might I suggest next season they bring on as mentors Mary Chapin Carpenter, Sara Evans, Nickelcreek and perhaps the hottest man on the planet, Billy Currington?!? :sex:
