Kevin McKidd (“Rome”, “Journeyman”) has emerged as the favourite to play action hero Thor in a new Marvel movie according to a report by IGN.
McKidd recently told IGN that he’s a contender for the lead role and that there has been “a lot of back and forth” between various people about the project, but could confirm nothing else, but that nothing has been determined. He did mention Kenneth Branagh’s directing of the movie, which he supported fully.
The Scottish actor, who has found TV success in America on "Grey's Anatomy"and "Rome", is in advanced talks to play the title character in Marvel's upcoming live-action superhero movie.
James Bond star Daniel Craig reportedly turned down the chance to portray the hammer-wielding Norse warrior in the film.
Thor is due for release in 2010.
