Matthew Shepard's murder not a hate crime?

Seems like an unlikely amount of effort just for two stronger guys to rob a guy for meth money. Luring him into their vehicle, driving him out to a discreet, remote location, beating him up, fracturing his skull, tying him to a barbed wire fence, and leaving him to die. Despite their obvious motives, they still deserve the maximum penalty for first degree murder.

20/20 have done this type of story before and it does not surprise me that it is being rehashed again.

I have read Matthew's mothers book and the HIV status came out during the autopsy so that is old news.

I think we should all just let Matthew rest in peace ... no one deserves to be bashed to death like he was whether it is a hate crime or drug induced ... it does not matter ... Matthew is dead because he was brutally bashed and left for dead by those two killers and they deserve the sentence that was handed down and nothing they say will change that.

I love how the conservative mainstream media fuckers are STILL trying to blame Matthew for his own murder.

Makes you sick how so many straight people still think that "well.. those homos DO kinda ask for it, ya know?"

Seriously. What a bunch of bullshit. How fucking disrespectful.

What's the point of defending these killers in any way? Are they actually saying "These boys are cold-blooded murderers. But there is one thing they are not, criminals of hatred. They are such loving, tolerant boys"? That sounds like something I would hear on Fox News.

I was amazed that ABC did the story. I was so used to the canonization of St. Matthew the Victim that it shocked me when they aired the story that he was the victim of a drug deal gone bad, and not the "killed because he was gay" crap we've been fed.
