may someone explain Muslims and European countries

Completely off-topic, but I remember when I went on the Glasgow Pride march last summer - there was loads of banners from the Socialist Worker, and anti-Tory slogans.

I voted SSP on my second vote in the 2003 Scottish elections for my region (Highlands & Islands)





The reason there is controversy over Muslims in Europe is because a significant percentage of them on this side of the Atlantic are FAR MORE extreme and fervent in their belief and practices than in North America.

It's kind of like the opposite of a melting-pot with some of them. They hold on to their extremely medieval and (in my opinion) un-British codes and beliefs, e.g. forced marriage of women, 'honour killings', etc.

They just seem to be a lot less integrated into this country than, for example, the black Caribbean community or the Indian community.

I personally don't think it's unreasonable to expect other cultures who arrive on these shores to be A LITTLE more secularised and 'westernised' to reflect the mood of the country they are coming to.

(and I will emphasise I say SOME Muslims - not all of them)

it 's not the race or the ethnicity of a group in specific but their culture.i don't see any problem with arabs living in europe as long as they don't try to impose their culture in a region of the world that they simply don't belong to.i'm against islam,and i'm openly disgusted by it,if they want to live in Europe they must respect european's values but now england and france have what they deserve and the rest of the european countries must thank them for this.

i thank everyone for responding to this... yes i do understand that european countries are different from one another.. i just kept reading the same complaints from a variety of european countries on the board so i mushed them all together in my original statement.... this has been very informative

This statement insults me, i am an agnostic born Muslim, and though I'm not a practicing Muslim, the teachings is more about peace and love, what you see on TV is actually a cultural and not a religious issue.

The Arabic community is revolved around family values with a strong traditional sense of what symbolizes manhood and the role of a man in a family and in society in general. They use Religion for political agenda just like any other denomination, like the Romans did with Catholicism.

The word Islam itself means peace, and everything it teaches in its books is symbolic rather then literal, with a high percentage of it is about loving all creatures made by god be it friend or foe.

And for your info, Christianity harbors more hatred towards homosexual than Islam does, while Christianity condemn same sex sinners to hell, Islam preaches that it is in gods will that one is created the way they are and it is in the hand of god that they shall be judge, and not in the eye of men.

So before you make any assumption of what is good for the rest of the world and that your great America should conquer everything that moves, please do your research prior, or prove to the world what big bullies Americans are and cry terrorist when retaliation comes along with it.

I do not condone or support any acts of terrorism, such actions are cowardly imho, but i do not condone small mindedness coming from someone who should understand what it feels like to feel belittled based on their differences
