The man who would have been president:

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/03/06/mccain-flunks-made-in-america-101/

This is the man who doesn't know the difference between Sunnis and Shiites.
This is the man that kept referring to an Eastern European country called Czeckoslovakia during the 2008 presidential campaign. (The two original countries were reinstated in 1993.)
This is the man who announced to the world that we really needed to get tough with Spain - to really "draw a line in the sand." (Spain is a member of NATO and was one of our allies during WWI.)
McCain probably still thinks that trees cause pollution just like his predecessor, Ronald Reagan. ](*,)
This man is in the U.S. Senate? Could he pass the JUB Civics Test? He wants to go to war with Libya :help:

You don't need to bash him anymore, Chris, the election was over two years ago.

Thanks for letting me know. My point (which you missed) is the he is in the Senate, responsible for life and death decisions. I'm concerned.

I definitely won't be voting for him in 2012.

in fairness, McCain probably doesn't know the difference between an iPad and a legal pad.

They're quite similar. The legal pads also were probably made in China.

I read this over the weekend and it amazed me. Its important because McCain is unaware of the vollume of outsourced jobs to other nations, and their effect on the economy.

As a voting member of the Senate he is very relevant.

Thanks for posting the thread.

Oh my goodness, he though iPad's were made in America, the HORROR!!

This is a fine example of the far-left noise machine in action.

it is for the thousands of americans who could be employed if this company that sells so many products would simply manufacture them at home.

Of course you have to be worried about the middle class and unemployment to get that.

I posted the column because I appreciate the value of general knowledge. This might be somewhat abstract for some, but... I really don't give a shit about the NBA, but at least I can identify LeBron James, and even the team for which he plays. In and of itself, this factoid is fairly insignificant, but both appreciation of knowledge and awareness are not. Not knowing where Apple products are made is neither here nor there, but the fact that some of our leaders (even some Democrats!) live such an isolated existence, that it might affect their ability to govern. I know that for some, this might be difficult to comprehend: force yourself.

You didn't read the column which was posted by a CNN writer. I don't think CNN would be considered a "far-left noise machine", unless it presents something you don't like.

If its not FOX, Laika calls it the far left.

thats how far out on the loony right wing he sits.

when he moved into the territory of goods that are made in America, he ran into trouble. "I would also point out that…an iPad or an iPhone, those are built in the United States of America. And as the president said, continuously, and I agree with him, innovation is the key to us being able to restore our economy."
"And that's got to be exports," he continued. "We've got to have free trade agreements."
Three exports that cannot be factored into McCain's argument are the iPad, iPhone, and iTouch. All are products that are "Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China," as is printed on the back of each device.

from the link above in the OP....

what I find interesting is that he tried to go with the winds of popularity, flip flopping again, I assume realizing what the labor uprising will mean in the coming years, thanks to walker, BUT...

He was so misinformed on american manufacturing that he had no clue as an american senator as to what nation one of our most innovative technologies are manufactured.

Looks like labor is dragging McCain back into the maverick zone... HA!

Let's see... might we establish a "no-fly zone" in Libya or Liberia? I'm so confused.

The only thing McCain knows how to do is to flip flop on his positions so he can remain in office. He is not bright and is way past his due date. He also knows how to divorce disabled wives and marry wealthy daughters of millionaires. To think he was the Republican nominee for President just 2 short years ago, but he was pretty mavericky. *wink*

But wait, he's not a maverick now, or is he this week?

Good grief, I'm embarrassed for you Republicans.

Focussing on a couple of misspoken or misplaced words does no favours to either side of the political spectrum. I'm sure McCain's intent was to express that Apple is a massively successful US Company, whose enormous profits land soundly in the US. Apple products are designed entirely in the US.

Two words that he uttered should be enough to know he makes poor judgements: "Sarah" and "Palin". Don't get bogged down in the politics of semantics.

I'd probably rather have someone who switches positions depending on the polls than a true-believer tea party'er.

I would have to choose the "none of the above" option if those were my only two choices.

Ehh

McCain's days are over really. When he picked a fight with the pentagon last week, it became clear he is closed to all ideas but those that move his career ahead.

I would say Arizona can do better, but at this point I doubt it.

Not me loki..... I would rather be dealing with a hard core tea partier because you know what you're dealing with. Even tho they're as wrong as wrong can be, at least they have more integrity than someone as slimy as McCain. He will say and do anything to keep his job. I don't have any respect for someone like that and he doesn't deserve any.

If McCain's intent was to express that Apple is a massively successful US Company, whose enormous profits land soundly in the US. Apple products are designed entirely in the US then that's what he should have said. The buzz words, "I misspoke", "the quote was taken out of context", "what I meant was..." make me ill.

If I tell someone, "your really a dumb, worthless son of a bitch" and then I say, "what I meant was you've got some room for improvement", I'm going to have a credibility problem. On the other hand, I'm not in the U.S. Senate.

You're being way too polite. What I would have said is, "he'd fuck a snake to keep his job."
