Meagan Good Leads NBC's "Deception" (Looks Good)

People are comparing this to ABC's "Scandal", probably because they both have Black female leads . I really dont see any connection here. I am looking forward to seeing this. Very proud to see women of color on TV w/ good roles. And I do adore Victor Garber, however he does look like a meanie in this role.

Is it me or does this show have lesbian undertones ? Probably just wishful thinking on my part

Hm. Well, I don't watch Revenge. The subject matter doesn't interest me...

But I will give this one a try because I always like to show support for PoC leads. I hung in there for Scandal for this reason (and the fact that I love Kerry Washington) even though it's not a show I'd typically watch. I can't say that I'm still into it but it is great to see a WoC leading a hit show so I do look at its success with fondness. I also gave The Mindy Project and Elementary a shot this year for having WoC as leads and they've both been successful and great to watch.

I don't really have strong feelings about Meagan Good as an actress but she's beautiful and she's always seemed like a cool person. I hope the show does well and that it wins me over.

Girl! Revenge is really good. You may want to give that one another chance.

I adore the Mindy Project and Scandal.

While I already watch way too much TV, Im excited for this one. I dont love Meagan Good. Excluding "My Cousin Skeeter" on Nick, Ive found her roles to be either ghetto or one dimensional. I suppose that isnt her fault. Ive also fancied her to be arrogant (though I could be wrong). This seems like a really good character. Plus the supporting actors are AMAZAING.

I wish that Canadian shows would air over here. We are pretty sheltered when it comes to foreign TV, however everyone else seems to be privy to the stuff over here. Most of the time, when I want to watch something that isnt American, I have to turn to some obscure channel or search youtube.

I still watch Degrassi til this day and AYAOTD was my favorite show as a kid. I wish that they would play re-runs. I watch RL Stines's Haunting Hour every Saturday because it reminds me of good kid horror shows like AYAOTD and Goosebumps <--- wasnt that Canadian too ? I think

I get my UK shows sometimes from BBC America or the internet. Or public TV. I used to watch Mr. Brean and Masterpiece Theatre on public TV as a kid. People still watch Masterpiece and America adores Downtown Abbey which plays on that station as well.

I am definitely going to give Deception a chance it is so nice to see another black actress have an opportunity to be a lead on mainstream television. I love Meagan Good she was excellent in the comedy Think Like A Man! I will definitely watch the show and Laz Alonzo is gorgeous!!!

I am guessing the media are probably going to compare Scandal to Deception because Kerry Washington and Meagan Good are black actresses but I need to see Deception before I have an opinion about the show!!

Just realized that my girl Bree Williamson from One Life To Live is playing the daughter that dies. So Beautiful. I hope that there are plenty of flashbacks so that we can see her.

The pilot is up on Hulu (and other sites) now.

It was really good, I can see the show has a lot of potential. Meagan Good slayed. The story kept me interested, and so did the family who were all a bunch of miserable people. They were all very intriguing.

Anyway, can't wait to see more episodes. I was not expecting to like it this much. The teaser trailer after the credits made it look really exciting.

Thank you for the update. I watched it twice LOL. I really enjoyed it. Its intriguing and fast paced. Im so happy for Meagan. I always knew that she was better than some of those parts that people like to throw at her. She brings something very natural to the plate, IMO.

I looked in the comments. A lot of the women are saying that she was bad and couldn't act. I wonder what show they were watching. Women are always so hard on other women.

As a Black woman, Im very proud of her.

Plus, thats a good looking cast.

I think she just has that kind of vixen vibe going on so I can see why she'd rub people the wrong way. But then she smiles and starts talking it's like she is really sweet and down to earth.

I read that NBC had ordered 13 episodes but has now reduced the order to 11 episodes. Hopefully that isn't some kind of early sign that they aren't really confident about the show's chances. ¬ _ ¬

Anyway, not feeling the new promo posters. It looks pretty tacky with all the tabloids and the style is unflattering for Meagan. I preferred the other ones.

I guess that they are trying to work the sex appeal in there. However, the show is pretty sexy as it is.

What is it trying to say. "Im a sexy cop" ? Its silly because she dresses in button ups and pants throughout the whole pilot. Im hoping that they dont stray too far away from this. The last thing that we need is for her to be flouncing around in clingly dresses trying to solve a murder.

Will tune in next week although, reading through the reactions, I am already sick of people comparing this to Scandal. Apparently, there can only be one black female lead on a prime time drama and we have to root for one to beat out the other so her show gets cancelled. And so much of this nonsense is coming from other black women who are stanning for Scandal/Kerry Washington. SMH. I hope it stops soon because the two shows are nothing alike.

Comments are either comparing it to Scandal which is dumb, because the only thing that it has in common is the fact that they have Black female leads. That is kind of like saying that Roseanne and Ally McBeal were the same.

I can see why people are comparing it to Revenge, it is a similar show, but not an exact copy. A woman infiltrates a rich family in order to find the truth. This wasnt created by Revenge's producers.

The reviews are kind of making me nervous. I really want this show to do well.

I thought that tonight's episode was great. I really hope that people are watching this show because it just continues to get better.

My only critique would be that they need to cut Meagan's hair. Its just so unrealistic when you take in the fact that she is a no nonsense NYC detective. It just looks unprofessional to me. Or atleast put it in a ponytail. When she gets dressed up (lets her metaphorical hair down). There will be no contrast to her everyday.

I really like the show. I hope that it lasts. Last night was pretty good. I was flipping in and out because Dallas came back at the same time.

I kind of feel like Joanna and Will have better romantic chemistry than Joanna and Julian. Its just not there yet for me. They have barely kissed. If we can get a lip lock in there sometime soon, that would be great.

I love Wes, but a lot of his scenes feel uncomfortable to me. I kind of want him to be a little more physical. However, Im not an actor, perhaps its his technique for this character.

The scene that felt the most natural was when Julian and Joanna were on the dock. In that scene, they looked like they actually knew eachother.

Yeah, I played Julian and Joanna's last scene three times. I only wish that there was more. It was such a massive build up.
