I look at this picture - probably late 1950's - some young guy in his first job out of high school earning $60 a week and a stranger offers him $20 to take a picture of his "wiener".

He figures what the hell - that is a lot of money and it is not like anyone will ever see the picture.

Jump ahead 60 odd years - the guy is a grandpa now and his gay grandson is surfing JUB and thinks "Damn that looks like Gramps"
 
Maybe if you grew up in California you'd get $60 a week.
In the midwest countryside early 50's married COUPLES could live on a $100 a MONTH so he'd probably show his dick, and more, for a lot less than $20.

Even if it was just a friend who took this picture back in the 50’s or early 60’s (judging by the hair, clothes, and model of truck) guys his age back then had so little chance of getting laid, because few girls put out, and if you were a gay kid it was even more difficult. So if this kid was getting it on with anyone, he was probably one hell of a HOT fuck because he was so repressed and hard-up.
